At a rundown station, a fuel truck fills its large tank. Dusty impatiently taps his fingers in the truck's driver seat and shouts, "What's takin' so long?" On top of the long tank, Pamda holds the pumping handle and answers, "Sorry, honey! I think the tubes are frozen. You could say our plan is..." "Don't say it." "...On Ice!" *groan* "Vik, it's lookin' like we might have to bail with what we got." Vik stands guard on the snowy sidewalk with his gauntlet primed. "No. We're filling it up. Police aren't gonna shoot at us with a tank full of gas." Suddenly a female's voice says from afar, "They won't, but I might."
On the other side of the street stands Delle, alone. Vik laughs, "Yeah right. You didn't do it yesterday." "That was yesterday." Purple flames envelope her left hand, and the witch raises it to attack. With quick thinking, Vik fires his gauntlet's lightning. Elements collide, causing a small explosion in front of Delle that knocks her off her feet. Vik turns back to Dusty, "Keep fueling! I'll handle her!" "It's too dangerous, kid!" but the cowboy's warning accomplishes nothing.
Delle stands back to her feet, but the sniper is already there. A swift punch nearly hits her, but the witch's fiery claws strike back. Purple flames spread onto the panicking Vik's torn coat, and he drops down in a snow pile to put it out. Delle opens her sharp hand with curled fingers pointing out. A continuous inferno launches out, following Vik as he runs. This feels...good, the witch thought. Unable to escape, the sniper counters with a "Crystal Surge!" Lightning dances through the gauntlet, then shoots out the twin points at Delle.
Both teens stand locked in place, as their energies collide. Delle's boots slide across the sidewalk, and her flames begin to lose. "Didn't you hear what I told you yesterday, loser?" Victor taunts, "You can't beat me!" "I'm. Not. USELESS!!" A purple glow overtakes her eyes, and the fingers on her right hand sharpen like the left. The witch doubles her firepower, causing her shirt sleeves to burn up to her shoulders. Black veins spread down her wrists, then up her forearms. The power is too great for Vik to stand, sending him off his feet towards the fuel truck.
Further down the snowy road, Ellia flies in with Bron just behind. Seeing their approach, Dusty jumps out of the fuel truck and shouts, "SCRAM!!" Pamda leaps down from the tank, while Vik returns to his feet. The witch targets the sniper with her hands, then unleashes her purple blaze. "Delle! Don't!" The sound of Ellia's voice causes Delle to snap out of her anger, but it was too late. Flames consume the gas station, igniting the truck filled with fuel.
Everything slows down, as the pixie and her mentor watch their friend disappear inside the explosion. Bron jumps in front of his apprentice, shielding her body from the flames. The force knocks them down to the icy roads, where they slide into a parked car. An Earth trembling shockwave rattles the city block. Windows shatter, car alarms sound off, and the gas station blows apart. Black smoke and flames rise high, and the mentor asks, "Ellia, you alright?" "No! Where's Delle!?" The pixie desperately breaks out of Bron's protective hold to fly back into the wreckage.
"DELLE!!" Ellia screams, but no one replies. Instead, a quiet groan is heard. Ellia flies into the smoke, finding Delle on the ground with burned and torn clothing. "Delle, come on! We need to get out- AH!!" The few seconds of holding her friend's arm is too hot for Ellia to handle, but not for Bron. "I'm used to fire," he says to his apprentice, "I'll take her to the hospital! You make sure everyone is evacuated safely!" "But-" "There's no time! Do it!" Bron leaps from the ground with his flaming boots, carrying the unconscious Delle. Frequent moans are let out by the girl, seemingly in a nightmare. "Stay with me, Delle. Come on!"
