"No beauty in all the world to exist can fix 

My heart that endures all the pain the world inflicts

"Why," I ask, "does such paradise exist 

To tempt a man into a life of despair? 

Is it not enough for all of us to resist 

All pleasure as your vicars beware?

"If, in time, humans shall eventually fall 

And from death, by God, we shall be saved 

Why, then, do we still suffer from it all? 

Why, then, do good people still walk a path unpaved?

"Why orchestrate a play in which no one benefits 

And let children fall in the hands of the wrong? 

Why must love be so violent that it supersedes 

All logic, wisdom, and judgment we valued for so long?

"Why are there people who are saved and those who are not 

When Your love encompasses everything created by You? 

When all of humanity was promised salvation, not one forgot 

The King, Almighty, shall come again in time due?

"I beg of you, tell me: where do pure of hearts go 

When death claims them from the Earth of woe? 

And those who are left to live a life now merely half filled, 

What, then, shall our fate be, if not empty, miserable, and half killed?"
