"Silly master, you summoned me here, hehe." She giggled, fluttering around.
"Hmm indeed, do tell, how’s our little apple of the eye?"
"Good master, I don’t understand why I have to keep an eye on her." Lillilan answered, sitting on Toll Keeper’s left shoulder.
"The Old Ones favor our shiny little apple, hence why I’m here." He said he was finally closing the book.
"Why ?"
"Hmm, that is a good question, my little familiar."
"Is that why you are here, master?" Lilian asked, glancing at the book in front of her.
Toll Keeper nodded. It wasn’t just the fact that he found most humans interested; something attracted him to Elyn. He couldn’t guess why he was so fond of the young guardian, and more importantly, why the Old Ones were so curious about a seemingly simple human.
"My dear Lillian Please go back to our precious fruit. I shall be here for the time being."
Just like that, she was gone, taking a deep breath. It still amuses him to this day that he, the messenger of the great deities, had to now breathe. How long has it been since his first step in Adamas?
"Uma, that’s a pretty name." Elyn said she was getting up from the bath. The scars on her bronze skin are trophies from battles long ago. Grabbing the drying cloths next to the water, the young guardian dried her body off, taking extra care to dry the full head of locks she had. Uma thought her hair looked like ropes weaved together.
"Thank you." Uma giggled as she swam slightly closer to the edge.
Elyn smiled back. Uma reminded her of a younger version of herself. She was curious, playful, and had a bit of a mischievous side.
"Are you coming back?" She asked
Elyn nodded, putting her outfit back on, which consisted of leather pants, boots that reached right to her ankles, a simple white tunic, and a beautiful green cloak with a hood. The two girls waved good-bye, with Elyn watching the mermaid dive back into the water.
"Hehe, it looks like our little favored one made a little friend master," Lillian whispered. She was perfectly hidden in the apple tree; the big green leaves covered her faultlessly.
"Good, please continue to watch over dear Elly." Toll Keeper answered back through the small portal his familiar held in her hands.
