Macey's pov

I'm still really curious to know what happened yesterday.

"Mathias is a douchebag that's all I have to say."

"Then, what did you mean about him flirting with me?"

"Obviously the guy is playing tricks only to get me. He's flirting with you but in the end, he only wants me. That ain't right at all. That asshole can't go around flirting with you as if he moved on from me. He can't do that to us girls, he knows better than that."

"Oh..yeah maybe you're right. It's not right that Mathias is hitting on me just to get to you."

"Of course, it isn't. As long as you don't flirt back everything should be fine."

"What?" I don't have time to say more as we arrive at Carly's.

This is really strange, why would April be bothered by Mathias flirting with me? I find it weird that she's bothered by that but I guess besties come first. I mean it has always been.

The only time I can think where April did something regarding my love life is when she ruined my date with Carlos Francisco. That was way back when we started high school. I was sad that she dared to do that but she told me he wasn't good enough of a guy for me.

In the end, as much as it hurt she was right. Though, how could she possibly have known he was bad for me? She probably just did it to maintain her image or something. Well, that's what I always thought.

"Earth to Macey. What'd you thinking about so deeply like that in the morning?" April says smirking.

"Oh..it's nothing."

"What? Did something happen Mace?"
Carly asks.

"Not particularly."

"Huh...I thought you and Mathias.." April gives a warning glare to Carly.

"Oh..you're not..?"

"April went out with him yesterday didn't I tell you?" I say flat out.

"Yeah..but I thought you two.."

"Oh cut it out, Carly! He doesn't like Macey, I don't like him. He still likes me but let's ignore him. I'm sick and tired of that guy."

"More like you're tired of boy drama." Carly restors back and April looks taken off cut guard.

"That's what you call boy drama? Do you think I'm dealing with guy drama?! Then, what are you dealing with?!" April yells like a maniac. That's not good.

"Besties before guys no?" Carly questions.

"Yeah sure it's that. Guys like you Carly you're just so clueless!"

"What? I'm not clueless! I just chose my friends before boys!" Carly complains back.

"Ok, enough girls. This is getting nowhere. How about we all get along in this beautiful sunny weather?" I say with my flashing smile.

"Yeah... April rolls her eyes as she agrees.

"Yes.." Carly agrees too.

It doesn't long before we get to Kelsey's but if I thought I'd be better I would be lying.

"Hey yo, girls! You look good April! Got yourself a boyfriend?" Kelsey asks teasingly as she chews her bubblegum.

"Yeah no" April grimaces as if disgusted. She even rolls her eyes. Oh, classic April.

Regardless, she leaves the entry parking lot of Kelsey's in the direction of the school as per usual.

"Awh that's too bad...Does this mean I can take Cornell now?"

"Kels, he's flirting with Macey now." April flat out says.

"What? That? Sorry Macey but he doesn't like you. He's only getting back at April for being such a heartless gal!" Kelsey says bluntly and April stares at her coldly.

"Want a death wish?" April says with a killer glare.

"Nah, I think I'm fine." Kelsey chuckles.

"Oh..is that so? Then, it's relief." I say

"A relief?" I look towards April and give her a knowing look but she just shrugs it off.

"Yeah, apparently it ain't right that Mathias is using Macey to get April," Carly says. Oh, she understood that much?

"Yeah, and I stand by that!"

"Geez, April. What did Mathias do to make you in such a foul mood?" Kelsey asks. She's the dumb one alright?

"Nothing that concerns you."

After that, it remains silent in the car till we arrive at school.

As soon as we walk in us four, I notice Mathias and his friend Isaac. Immediately Mathias shuts me a wink. Maybe April is right and he's only playing tricks on me.

Then, as we go to April's locker, he comes in our direction.

"Hey, Macey. You look great today." Did he notice my new shirt? I can't help but get flustered. April just rolls her eyes in annoyance.

"Are you only hear to flirt with her because if it's that you can leave." April flat out says while she motions him to shoo away.

"Rude a bit much? I can't help but notice Macey's well-styled black hair. It's dyed right?" He..noticed that? I can't help but be flustered.

"Yeah, it is.."

"I like it."

He smiles but April stares coldly at Mathias. If looks could kill she'd have killed him long ago. Other than her, Kelsey is having too much with this and Carly looks to be busy looking from afar at Isaac.

"Didn't I already ask you to leave?" Geez...April has murder written in her eyes. I get that it's April but that's kinda terrifying.

"What's the matter with you? I'm only having fun with Macey." His smile remains.

"Never dare disrespect me and my girls," April says so sharply, shivers run through me and Mathias has no choice but to stop smiling.

"Sorry Mathias, seems like you got on April's bad side this morning. I suggest that you leave unless you want to be killed." Kelsey smiles whiles chuckling as she says it.

"Fine..see you later Mace!" April continues to stare at him with killing intent.

He leaves and joins his friend Isaac.

"April! What was that about? I get that you don't like Mathias but you don't have to have killing intentions. He was just being nice to me."

"Nice? Nice?! Did you literally forget what I told you this morning?!"

"Oh um..it wasn't flirting.."

"Yes, it was Mace," Kelsey admits.

"I'm sorry April...I can't help he's so nice."

"Just..don't do it again..."

"Does this means I'm forgiven?!" She remains dead silent.

"For the info that means you are forgiven," Kelsey says.

I immediately hug April tightly even though she's being grumpy and she doesn't accept my hugs.

"Thank you! I thought you would never forgive me!"

"Yeah, yeah get off me..." She gets me off of her.

"Anyways...Carly. Earth to Carly?" Kelsey says.

"Huh? Oh uh oh no sorry! I missed something didn't I?!"

"Yes, you did Carly. Crushing on Isaac?" April says harshly.

"No! Never! Besties over boys always!" She says confidently despite being all flustered.

"Yes, do like Carly, Mace. Mathias is a boy and besties always come first. You know that."

"Yes..besties always come first."

We all smile together despite the tension from earlier.

For the next few days, Mathis kept trying to talk to me and get close to me but he never could. I was always with April. We are always together anyways.

She always shut down his advances on me and was always so mad. I'm happy when April is by my side but I wish I could talk to Mathias. I get that she hates Mathias and that besties always come first but still, it's rude of her to not even let Mathias talk to me once.

Through, today I decided to take matters into my own hands. I knew that Kelsey probably knew Mathias's phone number since she knows every guy's phone number, so I asked her to give me it in class and she did it easily.

She wasn't worried about going behind April's back. Figures she loves trouble even if she is also loyal to April.

I know April might be furious that we're going behind her back but I really want to talk to Mathias even if it's by text.

As soon as I got his phone number, I texted him and didn't take long for him to propose to go on a movie date.

So for the first time in my whole life, I'm going on a date with a guy without telling April. It feels weird. She always knows everything but how she doesn't...She did the same last time so...

The date ends up going faster than expected and the movie ends. Once we get out of the movie room, I'm surprised by Mathias kissing me but I push him away.

"I'm sorry I can't.."

"Why not?"

"I can't do this to April."

"What do you mean you can't do this to April?"

"I promised her that besides comes first not boys."

"Wow..how lame. This is your excuse? Is this your way of saying you don't like me?"

"I do like you but this feels wrong."

"Wrong how?"

"I can't break April's promise."

"What is up with you and April? You two are always together, then she shuts down all my advances and now you refuse to kiss me. Are you two secretly dating or what?" Huh? Secretly dating? What does he mean..?

"Don't say that. April and I are just besties. We both like guys."

"Sure keep telling yourself that." Then, he leaves before I can say more.

What does Mathias mean? Is he right? Is April protecting me not only because we are besties? No..impossible she likes guys..she's April Newton. I know everything about her! Or I think...

After that date, Mathias no longer approached me not even April. He just vanished. April seems happier now but it's not like it's groundbreaking nowadays either.

"Earth to Macey!" April yells and I stop zoning.

"Yes, April?" I smile softly.

"Tomorrow it's your sweet sixteen so I was hoping to organize something big."

"Oh my...I totally forgot!"

"You forgot about your birthday?" Kelsey says in disbelief.

"Well...I didn't mean to..."

"Cheer up Mace!" Carly says.

"Yeah, so what are you planning? Is it a party like usual?"

"Actually no, I was hoping to do something else."

"Something else?!" Kelsey says dramatically.

"Yeah, I was hoping to do something just us girls."

"No boys?!" Carly says shocked.

"Have you lost your mind April?!" Kelsey says shocked too.

"Ugh, I don't even want boys there. It's better if we celebrate us girls tomorrow."

"I just don't understand. We cannot throw a party." Kelsey says confused.

"I'm sick and tired of boy drama. As you all remember besties comes before boys."

"That's true..but not throw a party for Macey? Have you forgotten who we are?"

"Yes the most popular girls in the school, though you're all commanded to follow my commands."

"April..come on it'll be boring."

"Kelsey, I'm planning a sleepover between us girls only."

"Oh!"

"A sleepover?" I ask confused.

"Yeah, we'll do a girls' night. We haven't had those in years. That way we can get away from the boy drama."

"But I love drama!" Kelsey says disappointed.

"It's just for one night and besides let's do it for Macey ok?"

"I never agreed through?"

"I say you did." She winks at me and I get slightly flustered. What was with that wink? What does that wink mean?

"So, tomorrow girl's night at who's?" Carly is ever so slightly confused.

"How about at Mace's? I'm sure her parents would say yes if I convince them."

"Sure! Le's do that!"

"It's settled then! Bring all your stuff because we are going to have fun together!" That sounds promising.

April was right, my parents are okay with a girl sleepover on a weekday. They always buy into April's idea. They are just glad no guys are in this.

So, we are currently all in my room. Kelsey and Carly are currently giving me a makeover and April is the one that approves the job.

"So, what do you think?" They show my makeup face to April but she grimaces.

"Not pretty enough. Make it better. We need to notice her eyes more." Oh...I thought I was pretty.

They try another round and then they show it to April again.

"Eh, it's better but something is missing..her lips need to be more noticeable." Why does April keep disapproving of my looks and why does she keep saying specific things?

While they change a bit my makeup, they start talking about boys.

"Hey, since we are all here. What guy do you girls finds hot?" Kelsey says.

"Well, personally none but that's because none teach my standards."

"Of course standards. Mace?"

"Ah, I don't know. I think Mathias is handsome but things are over between us." April gives me a murderous look.

"You and Mathias? I thought nothing happened between you two?"

"Well, we went out on a date."

"And you didn't care to tell me?! If I didn't know how'd you know his phone number?!"

"Kelsey" Immediately, Kelsey feels guilty as April stares at her with death in her eyes.

"Kelsey! How could you do that!? I said to not buy into Mathias's tactics!"

"It was me! I asked for his phone number!"

"Why did you want his number?" She says less on edge.

"Because he was nice to me but..he proved me wrong."

"And what did I tell you?!"

"I know...I know.."

The girls continue talking as Kelsey admits she wouldn't mind having a shot with Mathias and Carly finally admits she likes Isaac, his friend.

After that, they show April my makeup once again.

"This much more sense. Let me see if you girls did a good job." She comes closer and kisses me catching me off guard.

"Yeah, you girls did a good job." I know the girls think there's something strange about it too but they don't comment on it as you never comment on what April does. April is just April.

After that moment, the rest of the evening ended up being extremely fun as we dance, sing karaoke and watch movies. It's getting late but April decides to talk to me.

"Hey, you look great with the makeup the girls did."

"Well...I think they did a good job."

"They sure did because you look even more beautiful tonight."

"You think so..?" I say surprised.

"Yeah.." She stares at me intensely and I don't know what to do. Then, she comes back to her senses.

"Your makeup is pretty but we should get rid of our makeup and go to bed."

"Yes"

We get in the bathroom and she strangely closes the door.

"Let me help you get rid of your makeup."

"What are you talking about?" Suddenly, I'm met by soft lips and I freak out but surprisingly I don't pull off. I just have to let April do her thing.

The kiss goes on longer than I think and I start to enjoy it more than I think I should. Even more so than any guys I have kissed. Is it because it's April Newton?

The kiss comes to an end.

"April..why did you do that..."

"Shh, we don't want others to know."

"Others to know? Kelsey and Carly saw us kiss me before."

"And you didn't think this kiss was special?"

"What..?"

"Let me do it again."

She grabs my shoulders and pushes her lips into me more firmly. I get surprised by that. Why does this feel good..this feels different...

Without knowing we start fully making out. None of us stops this. It was after she got rid of my shirt and tried to touch my boobs that pushed me to put this to an end.

"April.."

"Don't worry about it.."

"What does this mean..friends don't do that.."

"Maybe not but you're an exception."

"Don't besties comes before boys..?"

"And are you a boy?"

"No.."

"Then, this is an exception. After all, you are doing everything for your bestie right now." I check my bra and notice her swollen lips. Oh...

"April...we crossed the line...besties can't do that.."

"And I'm changing the ruling tonight. Besties always come first no matter what it is."

"But.."

"Consider yourself lucky because you're my favourite."

"Favourite..?" I get flustered."

"Happy sweet sixteen my favourite bestie." She smiles softly.

"You.." She hugs me to my surprise and I decide to lay there in her arms as I smell her lavender perfume.

Wow..I never knew I could do something with April others never managed to do so. What we did is special. So, we need a new title. Hmm, April can be the meanest girl ever so what does that make me? A mean girl too? The two mean girls...Yes, I will cherish that role forever.
