It had been just like any other day.
"Hey Emily, I see you're ready to go to school with me," I said with the most gentle smile.
Now this had been about 3 months into our relationship and Emily and I had gotten really close with each other. We hugged each other on occasion to express our love. However, nothing had gone past this point as we were only around 17 years old.
"Good morning Harry," Emily said as her face lit up upon seeing me. At this point, I could see she had loved me with her entire being unlike most superficial high school relationships. Just being around me would end up lightening her mood on a bad day.
"Let's head to school now Emily." I smiled happily.
"Ok," She responded.
On our way to school today we decided to take an alternate round as we wanted to enjoy the walk this time. We weren't used to going this longer route to get to the school so to our surprise we noticed there was a shop that had been set up today. The shop looked as if it had been slapped together in a quick 5 minutes, clearly having fresh paint on the wooden board on top reading, "Tatiana's Tarot Cards". With the fine print, at the bottom reading '2 draws per person.'
"OOO, amazing we can see if we're fated to be together Harry!" Emily exclaimed to me. After she said this I instantly started to wonder when she started to believe in these fairytale nonsense. Being a firm believer in fact and reality I believed that this would be a scam and a waste of time.
"Uhh..." Sighing I did not want to partake in this voodoo bogus nonsense. However, I looked over at Emily and saw that she was ecstatic to pull a card at this very moment.
"Alright," I agreed.
Watching as Emily had gone up to the lady to ask if she could pull her fated cards. I started to wonder to myself, 'I need to see if she has crystals in her room back at home'. If she believed in the crystals I knew there was next to no helping her at this point, she would be lost in astrological delusions.
As I moved in to see which card she pulled I got closer and could see it better. On the card, it was a woman who looked utterly holy, a saint to be exact. If I had to guess it was the Virgin Mary.
"Virginity and Fertility is the 1st card you've chosen. Interesting... Very interesting." She didn't bother explaining anything yet as she told her to pull her next card before she would explain the meaning.
Emily pulled her next card.
This card only had a number on it, 19. Which was quite weird to me, I mean in this entire deck of cards, she bothered making a card with a random ass number on it. Like really this was complete utter bogusness.
"19, Yes this makes sense now as there is just as much negative to outway the positive. " As she finished saying this the shopkeeper looked at me sternly and said aloud, "Your destiny is strong, if he could pull 2 more cards from the deck it would very much help me discern the truths from the lies that lie within your fate."
After this Emily looked at me with puppy dog eyes, pleading me to pull a card with a just look saying, "Please, please, please pull 2 cards for me".
"Okay," I agree I mean what is the worse that could happen? They are just cards, right? Right...
AN:(DAMN CLEAR Foreshadowing)
After pulling my first card it looked like some type of vehicle. The vehicle looked murderous as if it had eyes of its own bleeding red for blood.
"Ahh yes. This is my favorite card you've pulled young man. Just know this card is an honor for all." After stating this she told me to pull the next and I did swiftly to get this hocus pocus nonsense over with.
The next card was fairly easy to describe as it had a pink heart with chains wrapped around it.
"Eternal Love" She stated looking at Emily and then at me. Emily was panting at this point looking at me incredulously, understanding that this was just the card she had wanted. Burning this card into her memory making sure to never forget this moment in her entire life. This was the card she was daydreaming of, believing that this meant they were destined to be together for eternity.
Suddenly, behind us, on the road which had been silent up until now came a screeching noise that was incredibly loud, forcing them to turn around and see what was going on. What seemed to be a drunk truck driver had just crashed into a tree off in the distance. He had gotten out of his car and seemed fine after the fact and waved over at us signifying it wasn't a big problem.
"Stupid drunkards" I had mumbled under my breath, as he could have killed someone with that truck-kun over there.
Turning around Emily and I wanted to finish this meeting with the tarot card master and head to school at this point. However, after we turned around she had vanished completely stall and all. It was as if she wasn't there, to begin with.
"I told you these types of fortune-telling were fake, and some bogus voodoo nonsense Emily. She probably got up and took the fuck off seeing her chance to dip". I started nodding my head left and right now as this had clearly been a complete waste of time as I said to begin with.
Emily looked at me angrily now as if I had stomped on the eternal love she had dreamed of since she was a little kid in elementary school.
"Just you wait... just wait," She said as if she was certain these cards would eventually come true.
