Throughout the story there are various character names, records, posters, etc. that are allusions to bands and artists that exist in our world. These allusions are in no way meant to detract or plagiarize from their work in any way; the intent is to pay homage to these acts that have greatly inspired me. “Not Waving but Drowning” is a poem by Stevie Smith (1902-1971), originally published 1957. The quotation of this poem can be considered fair use, as its implementation was transformative and does not detract from the work of Ms. Smith.
