Taiga and Kuro were walking the streets of the quiet neighbourhood, talking about her dad.
"My dad's Hungarian and English. He used to be Jewish, but he left the faith. He even had my brother in Hebrew school! Before I went to school, he left the faith. To the point where he went against the Kashrut diet. He decided to make shrimp patties, cheeseburgers with non-Kosher cheese, and other stuff against the law. He still believes in God though."
"My parents and I went to church twice a month. They were Christian, but they never followed everything in the Bible. They were secular, per se. Hey, is he into martial arts?"
"Yeah! He was a boxer. He was undefeated till he faced a guy named Arnold Peskowitz. He ended up getting his welterweight belt back and retiring via knockout. When he walked out, he either played the American anthem or some Hungarian music. He was disheartened that Ryuuji (his older son) wanted to take MMA instead. He got over it though. He never let me take MMA..." Her tone changed to dreary. "He believed females shouldn't fight in martial arts."
"Pretty sure you could wreck some guys. Was your mom on the same opinion?"
"Not really. She taught me stuff when he was on business trips. Also, MMA did grow on him later. He liked Demetrious Johnson, BJ Penn, Sean Sherk, Chael Sonnen, Daniel Cormier, Michael Bisping, Chuck Lidell, Clay Guida, Tito Ortiz, Justin Gaethje, Dustin Poirier, and Georges St-Pierre. He never liked women's MMA. He even said Dana White was a sellout for allowing it! He never liked Jon Jones."
"Can't really blame him; he gets away with too much outside the ring! Anymore least favourite fighters he has?"
"Henry Cejudo (for being cringe), Aljamain Sterling, Sean O'Malley..."
"I don't see why Aljo won the belt. He's a paper champ, still flexing a DQ win! Also wonder how'd he fare in MMA?"
"He's mostly a striker; he'd probably get dusted. Plus, he's past his prime. Doesn't mean he won't protect himself. Or anybody who's defenceless." She shrugged her shoulders.
Kuro laughed a bit. "Wanna share a story about that?"
"He beat up 3 teen thugs for picking on a handicapped kid. He did talk to them and tell them what they did wasn't right afterwards."
"Does he work outside of boxing?" Kuro raised his eyebrow.
"He owned a construction company. He quit and moved it to Japan."
"What other stuff he likes and dislikes?"
"Team. Sports. We never had a Super Bowl party, because he never cared about football, basketball, etc. The sport he really hates is soccer! He also hates SpongeBob SquarePants. To the point where Ryuuji was one of the kids in school who never watched it. He can't stand his laugh. He also hates mayonnaise and electronic dance music."
"I can't blame him on SpongeBob. That show is a dumpster fire, and it should be let down! But EDM...? Come on..."
"He likes music done with real instruments. He always enjoys McDonald's. His favourite item being the Quarter Pounder with cheese.".
"Hm. The QPC does sound promising. I do only cheese and onions. I like the way they cout their onions."
Kuro saw a guy in a grey shirt drop 20¥. "Sir! You dropped 20¥!" He came back to get it. "Thanks, man."
Taiga pointed out, "If we picked up money and pocketed it, he'd apprehend us in a New York minute! He also never liked wife-beaters! He never liked thieving. Also, he made sure we got what we wanted, but we had to earn it."
"Kinda like my parents. We had to earn our keep, no matter how rich they were. See your dad has some similarities to my parents."
They finally arrived at a white, two-story, brick house; it was her dad's house. It had a fence and a garden of veggies in the front.
This is the story of 17 -year-old Kuro Ganetto-Kōdōra, a high schooler who's been through a lotta heartache, from losing his parents at a very young age to being a troubled youth. He meets this girl named Taiga Ortaga (thumbnail), who's lost her mother.
