I have rarely seen a process so depressing, humiliating and void of joy as looking for a job. You have to convince total strangers that you do in fact have the skills that other people have been paying you to use for the last 10 years or so, all the while pretending that you really care about that company and that you’re not simply trying to put food on the table and you would say yes to the first company that answered out of the 15 you’ve applied to last week.
It always ends up being fine in the end, but that process in particular is a chore I hope to repeat as little as possible in my future.
