“Micah, this is an order. I am aware that you have just finished your purification ritual. You are to reach out to Sloth, as he is in need of your healing,” I recall as a deep voice rang in my head.
After that small scene, some sort of seal appeared on my forearm, as if it was burned there with a branding iron. The seal is a symbol of a 7 sided logo, a simple but telling sign of a very familiar organization.
It took me a while to remember, but I know exactly where I am, and I also know who Micah is.
Sir Micah, age 27, is a minor antagonist of a very popular book back home. ‘The Serpent in the Stars’ is the title of the novel.
The novel takes place in a fantasy world, where the Main Character is an S-Rank Adventurer. The main plot is about the protagonist taking down an Evil Guild called ‘Hell’s Court’, one of their more well-known members is Micah.
That means I wasn’t joking when I thought I had been transmigrated into the body of a villain. And Micah is not just an ordinary villain. He’s one of the more wicked one, sparing nothing for a higher position within the guild.
Blackmail, Kidnapping, Human Trafficking, Genocide, Forced Prostitution, Blackmarket. There was nothing that Micah didn’t dip his feet in. But there was one thing that he particularly liked and is considered his forte, which is Human Trafficking and Black Market Organ Trades.
The novel Micah also has healing powers, which is how he gained so much money in the first place. He would press the citizens for ridiculous amounts of money in exchange for healing their diseases and injuries. Since most commoners wouldn’t be able to afford the treatment, they would usually be forced into his underworld business or be shunned away without treatment.
The physicians in the novel were capable enough, but provided only half the effectiveness. It’s like if you can get a cure for cancer with a flick of a finger, why would you go through a series of sufferings through chemotherapy. It also didn’t help that Micah’s healing powers are more powerful than the other priests.
Going back to the matter at hand, the deep voice in my head earlier must belong to Hell’s Court’s leader, codename Pride. And Sloth must be referring to one of the main members of the guild, which also means, my co-worker. I remember this scene from the novel. It was when the Main Character was fighting against Sloth, but when he was about to win, Micah, codename Greed, appeared to help him.
It’s like when you’re fighting a boss in a game, and then their health bar is suddenly full again, and the boss multiplied, while your own health bar is already pretty low. So the main character was forced to retreat.
But this time… Micah is me. And as someone who really really does not wish to commit crimes and pay… Maybe I should repent.
After all, in the novel all evil will eventually meet its end, and the Hell’s Court will collapse, all under the protagonist and his companion’s feet. I would rather not meet my end after my past life, so I think it’s time for ‘Micah’ to betray the Hell’s Court and put a twist to the story.
Though… reality is much harder than my imagination. Betraying Hell’s Court is one thing, but finding where Sloth is fighting the main character is another thing.
How the hell am I supposed to get to them by time? As far as I know, Micah did not possess any teleportation magic in the book. Though teleportation is possible through magic scrolls and items, I have zero idea where Sloth’s current location is.
Isn’t there a hint or something in the novel that tells how Micah gets there…? Think, me… think!
“Farthrown Cave, just outside the reaches of the city,” a voice rang in my head suddenly. This voice does not belong to Pride. I know this voice…
“Milo!” I exclaimed.
This voice belongs to Milo, Micah’s familiar, the avatar of Avarice. Hell’s Court’s seven major members all possess a magic weapon of unknown origins. One of them is Micah’s, named Avarice. Milo is the manifestation of Avarice’s will.
Milo has the form of a Great Winter Wolf, however he does not need to maintain a physical form when not needed, thus only staying in Avarice, forming a mental connection with Micah.
“Now go, before your colleague gets his ass beaten,” Milo continued. If my memory serves correctly, all the seven weapons are actually separated fragments of a singular magical weapon. That is probably why Milo knows where Sloth is, because they still maintain that one source of magic.
Since the destination isn’t that far, maybe if I run there… I’ll still make it in time!
