Thanks for reading and sharing NG+R! One chapter left in Volume 1 still ;D
I've been thinking of outsourcing some help with my pages with commissioned artists so i could have monthly chapter releases. For that i'm thinking whether i could raise some funds by a patreon or ko-fi of some sorts if someone wants to help supporting these releases to get them done faster. Does that sound doable? hmmmmm
And here comes the new chapter! Although I did not catch the premiere, but I am definitely glad to see the continuation, dear author!
Footsteps of Time describes this chapter beautifully. The clock inevitably moves forward and the future in this story is predetermined. Shu knows what will happen, which works on many levels - comic (when he tells Ryuji his own secrets and it really makes him laugh, especially Sakamoto's face - an incomparable expression), tragic (when immediately after that Shu reveals Mishima's injury and the futility of trying to enlist the support of students ) and uplifting (that the Phantom Thieves will definitely meet and act together).
The chapter has an unusual atmosphere. She is largely melancholic, somewhat serene despite the bleakness of the situation and the powerlessness of the heroes to change the situation with Kamoshida without the Metaverse. The hope at the end of the chapter is served really powerfully - through a large page of the entire Phantom Thieves team moving forward towards the goal. Which is consistent with the front page, with Morgana and Shue walking on it (I can't help but see this as a reference to the Beatles).
Interesting here and Coe's point of view on what is happening. He knows the future and accepts everything that will be in the future. At the same time, he still tries to influence the future with at least something (in particular, a more successful conversation with Ann during the lesson, although it is not clear whether this will change at least something).
It is painful to see that Shu literally crosses out his past face in memories and is ignored by his mother, but at the same time it is reassuring that he does not hide the truth from his comrades and does receive support from Sojiro.
This chapter juggles the mood quite well, but keeps it within a certain atmosphere. The drawing itself is still atmospheric and dark, with a clear Sin City influence (I haven't mentioned this before, but it's a cool detail)
The protagonist is killed by Akechi, and gets sent back to the start of the game. Knowing what he knows now, can he make the right choices and avoid another bad ending?
Experience all again in this run full of strong emotions and a whole new take on the story, told by these gritty, filthly-drawn pages!
