"so you are worried about Jack" Jessica was sitting with me in the bleachers as the whole school cheered for our team that ran onto the field from their locker room "so you have a soft spot for Normies after all" she poked my face as if tormenting me was more interesting then watch the guy she was crushing on.

"shut it Jessica" I was pretending to focus on the game ahead of me, but as the power of the pendent grew stronger it was becoming harder to focus. I could feel the pull grow stronger till it hit me, my familiar was close by "I'm gonna go to the bathroom" I stood up from my seat and quickly got out of their before she could say another word.

I made my way through the crowed, the last groups of people arriving and running into the stands. The parking lot was devoid of life, not a single person was out here, the power started to pulse, this was it the familiar was here, they would appear any second.

"So the Magus that called me is but a mere child" the voice was deep and earth shaking, for a second I felt fear, as if there was a creature behind me that wanted to kill me "very well, if you could call me you must be a powerful one" I turned around, slowly, to see what I had summoned.

Sitting on the hood of a car was a black cat, its golden eyes shining in the dark "you are-"

"carful boy, the name you grant me is of most importance, you must chose carefully" the voice was now higher as if this voice matched its form rather then that earth shaking one before, it was still deep though. The cat jumped down from the car and strode towards me, it wore a collar that had the same pendent as the one around my neck "call me anything that resembles a name shall be the final seal on our contract and the name that calls me" He spoke with such elegance, I felt the need to bow towards him, but I knew I was the master and I needed to keep that control.

Okay so I have to give him a proper name, I remember, it was the final step, I must give him a name or else he may devour my soul "you are Onyx" I didn't sound too confident about my choice but there was no going back now "you are my Familiar Onyx"

"how original" Onyx approached me and jumped onto my shoulder startling me but his claws dug deep as he held on, I stopped and he removed his claws, moving to sit on my shoulder so he was facing my head, our eyes meeting "black gemstone, a bit on the nose insolent child"

"aren't I your master, shouldn't you treat me with respect" his eyes squinted into slits, I have pissed him off now.

"respect is earned young Magus" Onyx's voice raised a bit, becoming more of how it was before, i felt my body shake as he spoke "now where are we? these lanterns look quite strange and all these carriages have no horses" he looked around, using me as a step ladder to see from a higher point.

"its been a few centuries since you where last on earth I take it?" Onyx jumped down and started wondering towards the field "hey don't just go walking off on your own" I chased after him, he was fast on four legs and didn't look back once.

I managed to catch up to him as we reached the back of the stands "why is so many of your kind here in the night, do they not fear the mortals?"

"ahh well we umm their mostly what you call mortals" I remember that we used to refer to the non magic humans as mortals, since their lives where much shorter then ours "and they don't think magic actually exists anymore" Onyx looked surprised, at least I think he did, he wasn't very expressive.

"interesting" he walked forward again and I followed after him "I will speak in your mind, so that the mortals do not suspect anything" his voice echoed in my head as he spoke.

"you mean we can communicate by thought" I thought the words clearly hoping I was right but he didn't respond, just jumped onto the fence and watched as the game had begun and I saw Jake he was standing on the other side of the field, I looked around for number 7 but i couldn't see him anywhere.

"Number 7 is on this side of the lined area" so he can read more then just what I want him to "I can quite clearly see your memories and read your thoughts, I need to understand this century of  horseless carriages you call cars" well at least that made explaining how things had changed easier.

I looked around this side of the field and saw that number 7 was the player closest to me, I watched as the game was being played the ball going one way then the other, wincing every time someone got tackled and then I saw it, Jake got the ball, he ran fast, he was coming this way, dodging everyone and he looked so cool. Wait he was coming this way, but if he did then he will and in a flash I saw it number 7 running at him it was as if I had lived this before and knowing the outcome but unable to change it and then as if my memory was plaining tricks, he slipped, number 7 slipped and fell. Jake jumping over him and making his way to the goal and scoring a point I assume by the way the rest of the crowed had cheered.

"wait but" I looked down at my familiar hoping he could answer the unasked question.

"its but a small example of my power Magus" he hoped onto my shoulder again, more gracefully this time, accepting pats from others around me who seemed to fond over him and he seemed quite pleased of the attention "be warned child, changing the fates plan will always come with a cost, I may have assisted you but what comes next is your responsibility" his words felt heavy as he chirped like the cat he was I guess. A girl took him from my shoulder only asking after if it was okay but didn't need me to answer as Onyx purred in her arms, so he didn't like me.

the game went on for a bit longer, number 7 had apparently sprained his ankle in the fall and was out the rest of the game so I didn't have to worry about Jakes death anymore, Jessica found me after Jake avoided his death and eying me suspiciously asking if I had anything to do with the fall but I assured her it wasn't me, well it was true but I don't think I should tell her it wasn't me it was my new familiar, the illegal one I summoned.

after the game as the player's where all shaking hands, Jake quickly ran over to me before I could make my escape. He was smiling that big grin of his, as his sweat drenched hair laid plastered over his forehead "you came" he quickly looked at Jessica, his smile fading for only a second "wait for me I'm just gonna get changed and I'll be right back" he was off before I could respond.

"oh look at that you the Emo and the Jock friends, like that isn't some comedy waiting to happen" Jessica could keep her mouth shut, I'm sure of it but that would take away from her presences.

"what ever lets get out of here before anyone decides to start shit" I looked around and saw some of the guys who stuffed me in the locker eying me, it was unsettling "like right now"

"yeah yeah and you also need to explain your other rule brake behavior too Mr" I looked back at her and she wait until I locked eyes with her before she glanced down at Onyx "you think I wouldn't notice?" she got close so that she could whisper into my ear "I'm a Magi too dear brother, I can feel the magic emanating from your familiar and it feels just like yours, so don't try to play dumb"

"it seems the female is quite adept at magic detection" Onyx seemed to be impressed but it was hard to tell he talked with a stuck up tone like everything was beneath him "but yes lets get out of here, I may enjoy praise but these Mortals are a bit too touchy feely with me for my liking" he really sounds like a cat.

We sat out on the edge of the car park watching as everyone slowly made their way out of the carpark, I was explaing to Jessica my reasoning for summoning Onyx "so I thought it would be a good idea, if it worked I wouldn't have to be worried about being stuffed in lockers anymore"

"that is the most stupid reason to make a contract with a magical being" Jessica punched my arm as she probably had wanted to do when she figured it out.

"I- Agree with- the female" Onyx said between his licks as he cleaned his paws.

"so he can speak outside of telepath" Jessica patted him which resulted an attempted bite before he went back to cleaning the spot where she just patted "he's a bit... well not subservient"

"he has been like that since he showed up, and is quite bossy" I pulled out my necklace that had the same pendent as Onyx "even told me off for being carless about giving him a name" I couldn't help but chuckle a little.

"you are the definition of carless and who knows maybe your familiar will whip you into shape" Jessica stood from the ground and as if that was a sign the conversation had ended she said "care to come Onyx?"

"Jessica Onyx is my familiar i think he-" I was stopped by the sudden motion of Onyx jumping onto her shoulder.

"count me in, I'm ready for a nap" she gave me the biggest shit eating grin ever as she turned around and began walking around a corner that lead no where for anyone else, but for her, it gave her the perfect cover to use her special ability to teleport back home, leaving me to walk all the way.

I turned back to watching the carpark as I waited "hey Sebastian" I turned to see Jake, he was now dressed in shorts and a singlet, a sports bag hanging from his shoulder "sorry did you wait long, did your sister go home?" he looked around as if he was expecting her to jump out somewhere.

"yeah she just left" I stood from the ground and brushed the dirt and grass from my backside "now I gotta walk home" I eyed him, looking to see if he looked guilty at all.

"oh that's too bad" he looked down "I mean that you have to walk home" he smiled but it didn't reach his eyes, ah he must like her too, good to know out of her high chances and my like 1 percent chance of ever being noticed, Jessica is still the choice.

"yeah its fine" he was looking down at his feet kicking the lose rocks lightly "so you wanted to talk?"

"ah yes" he perked up "thank you for your warning" he looked into my eyes "I don't know how you knew, but as I saw him running to me all I could feel was that I was going to die, like that precognition stuff and nothing could be done, I kept thinking maybe I should have just sat out, but then I saw you standing at the fence watching him run towards me and he slipped and I jumped over him. I don't know how you did it but you saved me right?" he was animated, he spoke so quickly I almost didn't catch that last part where he had asked if I had saved him, this was getting too dangerous.

"I don't have any idea what your talking about" I tuned away, maybe if I left now, he'd forget about it and I'd go back to being ignored like always "if that was all, good night I need to head home now" I started to run towards the gate, I heard him call my name but i didn't stop, there was no turning back now and I could only hope he'd leave me alone now.
