Among the dunes, a small patch of vegetation survived the heat by surrounding a rare water source.
Underneath the palm trees' shadows the two observed the azure serpent swimming.
"How did you find an oasis? It 's awesome!" The brunette was gaping.
"Asking around." His nonchalant response surprised her."You talked with other people… It's gonna rain!"
"I hate speaking about meaningless stuff with strangers, not talking." The introvert elucidated.
"Why?" The extrovert couldn't grasp it.
"It's a waste of time." The child of the prophecy was serious.
"That's the reason for your silent treatment when we first met?" The spoiled brat was humorous.
"Partly, you were a thorn on my side." The pampered girl glared at him to choose his next words wisely, which he brashly disregarded."Actually you still are childish, lazy, lavish, insistent…"
Hey, is this list infinite? My qualities outshine my flaws!
"You don't stay behind either, Sachar!" The ex-law student turned things in her favor."You're arrogant, distrustful and rude, I mean just how many times you've ignored me!"
"Yes, you're absolutely right." The stoic man assented, absent of sarcasm, rendering her speechless.
"Even so, I like you." Holding her hand, their eyes were glimmering rays of light, cheeks growing hotter though the sun wasn't at fault.
Sachar leaned in making their lips meet, she enveloped her arms around him, despite knowing they would eventually have to part, both hoped it would last an eternity.
Ending it as slowly as possible, he deposited another kiss on her forehead."Would you be with me until death do us apart?"
"Hahaha! I told you, you would fall for me!" Before he knew it, a big smoke trail was the last trace of the little sheep who made off on her Tanix."I'll go home later!"
Did I go too far? Perhaps I was rather upfront. I've lost my love and my driver.
I'll have to get used to walking by foot again. My body gives thanks yet my heart aches.
I should pick up Fayez and get a move on, it'll take a while to reach the hideout.
I want to accept, what if it's a mistake? I'm not nearly as pretty as I was before, I'm not from this world so I probably won't age well…
I mean, he's two hundred years old and I recently turned twenty one. Our age gap is monumental, he'll get sick of me and get a younger girl.
"Argh, why am I indecisive!?" The brunette ruffled her hair.
"Oh my!" Startled by the sight, a nice old lady held her hat, proceeded to invite the girl for a chat over a cup of tea.
"As much as I'm happy, I'm terrified…How should I reply, Yazlyn?" The pampered girl was fidgeting, whilst the senior was antipathetic.
"Would you still be willing to be at his side when all that's left is a wrinkly face and his personality?"
"Hardly an inconvenience." Smirking, Lyla gave a thumbs up."He's a man of character."
"What worries you then?!" The old lady cracked a biscuit with her teeth, seething.
"Me!" The woman wiggled around her arms."What if my charm wears off? My pretty face is all I've got."
The old lady emptied her cup, then roughly put it on the table."In case he's all that, he'll see the beauty beyond your looks."
"He is!" Her Conviction switched to wonder. "Beyond looks? Isn't being gorgeous like everything?"
The madam booped her, irritated at the girl's shallow perspective hence flicked her nose."The beauty you observe is irrelevant, the older you get the less left of it you have."
"I guess that's why plastic surgeries and botox injections are popular." The model's daughter whispered.
"Plastic surgery? Botox?" The mentor was dazed, nervous, the woman blurted out."It's the trend where I'm from!"
"Trend?" The helper made a face.
"It's a huge success!" The politician's daughter advertised."It's rather popular with people around your age."
"My age?" Fuming, Yazlyn broke her teacup."You're from the Minor Islands, aren't you? They do say people there are odd, weird and crude!"
"It was merely a suggestion."The law student held back the urge to sue her for injury."I'm very far from home."
"Anyways…" Unmoved, the senior rose from her seat."The glow your face can't show, it's sparkling inside your soul."
"But-" Yazlyn covered the drama queen 's mouth.
"Get over your beauty complex and go live!" The senior moved her on the chair until the door, then pushed her out of her house, the rich girl used her hands to break the fall.
The old lady slammed shut the door, the girl stood up, deriding."Thanks."
The rich girl was riding her Tanix alone, hiding above the dunes, an unchosen one used the wind to throw dust in her eyes forcing her to halt.
"Will you keep me some company?" He grabbed her arm, firmly.
"Grow up, kid!" She pressed her pepper spray, a faint gas left.
Both stared at each other, stunned. Nervous, the woman repressed and nothing came out.
"I'll take that as a yes." The attacker's arm was bitten by the victim."Ouch!"
Angry, he stomped the sand creating a sandstorm, the brunette was flailing around at the wind's mercy, while Naseem skillfully floated in the air."I said you're coming with me."
Safeguarded from the searing sun on the inner part of a cave, the unchosen one interrogated the roped chatterbox."Who are you?"
"Lyla Glassberg." The model's daughter spoke conceitedly."Loaded and gorgeous."
"Why does the child of the prophecy keep you close?" The kidnapper eyed her."Are you also a virx user?"
"I'm normal, he's fond of me." The lady was delighted.
"Sure." The wind boy rolled his eyes.
"This guy wants to destroy the world and the first thing he does is get a girlfriend?" gurning, close to her face, Lyla spat at him."We're going to rule it."
"Oh, what a relief! it was a metaphor for his tyranny." Drawing back, the boy wiped himself.
"The prophecy is a lie." The rich girl stared at him, defiant.
"Najla is a respectable seer, don't insult her good name." The teen squinted his eyes.
"Deliberately risking the lives of three orphans to stop a worldwide threat instead of sending trained soldiers." The lady reproached."Sounds pretty respectable to me."
"My sisters have fate backing them up!" The youngest shouted.
"Sachar's prophecy was fake, she could very well fake others."
"You think I'll trust the word of my enemy?" He repudiated the attempts to persuade him.
"Ask yourself, do you really know her?" She demurred.
"Do you really know him?" Naseem rebuffed.
"Yep, I do." The brunette was resolute.
"Your boyfriend is playing you like a doll." Naseem jeered."I pity you."
"Ha! I'm a politician's daughter, I can detect lies asleep." Lyla smiled sardonically.
"Politician?" Seeing him puzzled, the hostage satisfied his curiosity."An excellent actor."
"You sound like a foreigner." The kid noted.
"I am one." The ex-law student confirmed.
"Are you from Safi?" Noticing her attire, he tested.
"No, however I've been at Ruellia Palace. It 's great!" The woman boasted. "Except for that cocky prince."
So Lyla is the missing concubine, I'll take her to the prince and use her to lure Sachar there.
Then the chosen ones will owe their invisible brother for finally getting to fulfill their destiny.
"Court jester, you'll give me some profit." The unchosen one stroked his nonexistent beard.
"Kid, release me." The hostage depreciated."I can't take you seriously with those chubby cheeks."
"Negative, old lady." The boy scorned.
"Brat." The ex-college student stuck her tongue out.
