Shopping(1) - When wearing an expensive outfit

When my brother was a student, he used to always want to wear pricey clothes, shoes, and school bags made by famous brands. He never wore cheap things. However, after graduating from school, he didn't want to wear the expensive ones any more. His interest in them seemed to be caused by peer pressure. Why can't we live free from social pressure? :(
