The Sun's Daughter

The Prince's Escape

The Prince's Escape

Jul 11, 2023

It was nearly a year and the prince had retried fully to his room. He hardly left, hardly ate, hardly bathed. The prince was devastated and felt very little motivation to do anything. Finally, the prince's trusty servant had enough. He walked into the prince's room and opened all the curtains. The prince groaned in irritation. "WHO ALLOWED YOU INTO THIS ROOM TO INTURPOT MY SLEEP?"

The servant was unmoved by the prince's words and grabbed his blankets and threw them to the floor. He kicked them away for good measure. The prince sat up and glared at him. "Do not think me being slack on my duties gives you permission to do as you please." The servant stared at the prince "you cannot stay in this room; the maids have been talking and the court has a bet for when you'll finally die." "You can hit me later on, but you are at risk of losing your kingdom!" The prince rolled his eyes, what good was owning a kingdom when he could not have the girl he wanted. "Please my prince, you most get up and take control!" "Send for a maid to fetch my breakfast."

The servant sat on the bed; the prince looked at him in disbelief. "Do not tell me you are still thinking of that girl. You must let her go. If not for you then the kingdom." The prince glared but said nothing. The servant sighed, "what if I brought her to you?" The prince said nothing. "what if-" "Let it go and leave immediately." The servant got up and left.

While the servant thought what he said did not move the prince, he was wrong. The prince decided that he would return to the girl and he would not take control of his kingdom till he returned with her by his sided. He needed her. He spent the day asking the servants to bring him things. They whispered among themselves but could not figure out what he was up to

Finally, night came the prince grabbed the large bag. In it was everything he asked for. The royal seal, twenty of his best suits, a few shoes, jewelry, hairbrush, a list of empty houses near the village, the gifts he brought the girl and at the very bottom a ring. He walked to his balcony and threw the bag over, praying that no one would hear it. To his luck it landed on bush. The prince looked at the stone walls wondering how well they would hold. He swung his left leg over the balcony fence. He felt around for a groove to place his foot, but the stone walls were too smooth. He swung his leg back and walked to his bedroom door. He opened it only to see his servant a sleep at the entrance. The prince rolled his eyes and closed the door.

The prince looked at his bed knowing there was only one option left. He grabbed the blankets and sheets and tied them together. Still, they were not long enough. He pulled the curtains down and tied them to makeshift roped. It was still short, but the prince was certain he would land on the bush if he jumped. He tied the rope to the balcony fence and started climbing. Despite the many months in bed the prince was still fit and climbed rather well. Besides his heart beating quickly he was fine. As he near the end of the rope he noticed that the rope was shorter than he estimated. The prince thought he would only be jumping 7 fts but now he thought the jump was 20 ft. While it was not too bad, he could still break something or worst land on his face.

At the bottom of the rope the prince took a deep breath. Inched himself further so that his legs were dangling in the air. He tried to aim for the bush, but it was dark, and he could not look properly without risking falling. He closed his eyes deciding he would just jump. If it were meant to be, he would fall unharmed. He let go and faster than he thought he, he felt the uncomfortable bag underneath him. He missed the bush, but the bag had fallen off to the prince's luck. He laughed, amazed, and reassured that he and the girl were meant to be.
