I was lucky enough to get home before the sun went down, as soon as I was in the door I peeled my blood soaked jacket off of me and tossed it into the corner to be washed later. Today has been hectic, more hectic than others have been. I had too many things that I had to deal with today. I stopped next to my sofa and took my boots off and put them in the closet there. I still sometimes wonder why they just had to choose me to be their leader? Was it just because I have this power A power I don't even like having and because I am taller than almost everyone else? I really hate this, but I also don't really have a choice.
But it's not like I can just let these people be hurt by not only the people outside our nine Sections, or the monsters that now live in our world. But first thing's first I really need to make some food, I haven't eaten anything all day cause I've been too busy. Just as I started cooking when I heard the sound of someone knocking on my door. Of course someone just had to come as soon as I got home. When I opened my door there was someone I had never seen at the door, he definitely wasn't one of mine.
The kid standing here I have to admit he was pretty damn cute, short, spiky red hair, deep blue eyes that reminded me of the depths of the ocean. Even the way he was dressed was kinda cute, it was somewhere between punk and skater style. But anyway, why was he here? "What do you need, kid?" I asked him. He looked young, I figured probably younger than me, but then again I was still pretty young myself at only nineteen. I had to hang my head just to look him in the eyes. "Come on in, don't just stand around like that." I moved to the side and held the door open for the kid. He just kinda looked at me and slowly walked in.
"You're nothing like they said you would be." He said. That seemed a weird thing to say. Oh well doesn't matter.
"What do you mean?" Damn I'm too curious for my own good, shoulda stopped caring what others say a long time ago.
"Just that you are hostile towards everyone and a danger to everyone." He said, while looking around my living room. "I don't see that at all, why do people treat you like that?" What's this kid up to? didn't he come to me cause someone needed something?
"What are you here for, kid?" I asked and crossed my arms over my chest, staring down at the kid and my voice may have been a bit more harsh than it needed to be. He just looked up at me with no fear or worry in his eyes.
"Section 8 needs help harvesting tomorrow." He said. Why do they need my help harvesting, what's going on with that. There's a reason every Section has a dozen of my people.
"What time?" Might as well indulge this kid for a bit. The sun outside was starting to set and it was too late to send the kid back to his Section safely. The monsters came out more often once it got dark. "Did you come alone?" The kid looked shocked by my question, not sure why but his expression pissed me off.
"Uh yea, they said I didn't need anyone to come with me." He didn't look at me even once when he said this, which honestly pissed me off even more. "And uh they said sometime in the afternoon." he shrugged.
"You can stay here for tonight, it's too late to head back." He seemed to look relieved to hear this. "I can give you blankets for the couch or you can take the bed and I’ll take the couch,"
"Thank you." He said, once again not looking at me. I should be used to this, people not looking at me but I don't think I'll ever be used to it.
