Me, Yatin and Dr. Bhaduri was just sitting there. No words from anyone after mine of Time Machine.
“So, you made a time machine!” Dr. Bhaduri said, with his expressionless face.
“Uhh, yes.” I said.
He stood up went toward his shelf which is at the left mid side of the room. He took some files from there. We both watching him, sitting there only. He put the files in front of us.
“Look, there are many others like you. These are few I got, nine or ten here and more files are there in the last shelf. They also claim that they made a machine, a time machine….”
“But mine is different. I will tell you everything…”
He just ignored me and go with his own flow.
“You know, in one case it was so sure that he claimed and even ready to hire me… Seriously, hiring me? Is it a joke!” He said and then took his seat in front of us.
“Sir, but at least allow him to present his work.” Yatin said in bit loud tone.
“Yeah, sure. I didn’t said no to you guys. I don’t have any work to do as per now… show me.”
No work to do. Seriously, he took my years long hard work as his time pass. I finally decided that whatever it takes, I will convince him to work with me.
I took a long breathe and started.
“Okay, so …” I opened my reports, “This is the overall mechanism of the machine. What it is doing is, it is basically reverting the change of the particle surround…”
Before my end, Dr.Bhaduri interrupted me with that disturbing question in other words, “Have you tested it?”
I didn’t said anything and just looking at him. Yatin kicked my legs to make me aware of what is actually happening.
“Uh, sir I told you. It is not working.”
“So, what you want from me. Making your ideas into reality.”
“No… I mean…”
“See… uh ..”
“Advik!” Yatin said.
“Yeah , Advik. See, it is not possible okay… I also thought to work on this. Wait…”
He again stood up and went to the shelf, this time it was the last shelf. Took one document and again put it on table in front of us.
“This is me, who also fell in the trap of time. I researched for more than a year, day and night just time. Then I realised how foolish thing I am doing. No one can beat time. It is something which is there but … its existence is unique.”
“That’s why you believe in light than time, no watches, no clock, nothing?” I asked. I observed at time of entry only, there was no clock, not even in the corridor and now not in the room also.
“Well, it’s not I don’t like time. But now I don’t believe in it. It is just numbers made by us, I am just fed up with these numbers.”
“But it is real!” Yatin said.
“Yeah and that’s why, I am saying stay away from it. If anyhow you manipulate it, then the way it will manipulate you will be beyond our scope.” Dr. Bhaduri said looking straight into my eyes.
“Which kind of manipulations?” I asked.
“Uhh… Say you made this time machine and in fact a working time machine. You yourself tried it first and pushed back yourself to ADs. Now, there you have the knowledge of this era, you can change anything you want. You can change the rulers, the wars, become father of inventions. If you want you can change the history and become god.”
“This is so weird!” Yatin reacted.
“Naao… It is Horrible… More than that you feel or think.” Dr.Bhaduri said.
“Okay! So you will not help us, right?” I asked, looking at the table and not at him.
“I don’t want to fall in this trap again. And I suggest….”
I stood up. Now, I don’t have any interest here. I left the place. While leaving the room I hear Yatin’s voice saying sorry to him. But I am not in that mood. I always fail in hiding my expressions and feelings over situation.
Yatin also came out. I am standing outside, near the gate.
“What you did there Advik, ruined everything!!”
“I ruined everything? He just took my work as a joke… and what he said – time pass… ”I am upset and angry. I didn’t expected this behaviour from a person whom I wanted to meet for last longing.
“Now what?” He asked looking at me, like I am only the root of all this things. Actually I was, but leave that.
“Uh, let’s go home first.” I said.
We reached home.
Ramika opened the door, I straight forward went to my room. From the room only I heard, Yatin explaining everything to Ramika.
“We can even try more… but Advik… leave it. He was right, everything is time.”Yatin said.
I then entered in the living room, with two papers.
“Now this?” Yatin asked me looking at the papers.
“Yeah… See it was not all time waste there.” I said and handed these papers to him.
“Woo, it is….”
“Yeah …. This is Dr. Bhaduri’s document. I managed to take first two pages only.”
“But, when you did this?”
“Well! When he was saying it as time pass… I thought it would be better to take his time pass. So, I silently took the above two papers and folded it. ”
“Is it worth it doing?” He asked.
“I think so. It is mainly about the source, where I stuck. Let’s try this. Maybe this is what time wanted me to do!”
“It’s your choice!” Yatin left the place for his room.
“Is it safe?” Ramika asked.
“Yeah, safe and precise also.” I replied and went to my work place – my garage, where I kept that machine.
For last one week I didn’t touched it. I remove the blue cloth covered over it to hide it from random people.
I started working on the papers I got.
Whole night I spent with these two pieces. There was a derivation on one page… not that numerical one, but the energy discharge.
At six, Ramika came to garage and found me asleep there on table. It was common when I work with this. I wake up there when she called me for tea at 6:30.
“Any updates?” Yatin asked, taking his sip.
“Not yet.” I replied without looking at him. Instead, looking at the sky, tall building there far away from the top of our two floors.
“Means there is nothing in those papers?” Yatin’s wife asked.
“It’s not like that… I mean, Dr. Bhaduri almost covered all aspect of serving energy and I am damn sure that also got the idea of the structure, but even after all this he said to us that he… he failed.”
“Maybe it was not up to his expectations!” Yatin added.
“Maybe….” I said. But I am not sure, why he left this after coming this much close. It is like climbing a coconut tree yourself and stretch your hands to take it. And when it is in your range, then leave it, saying that it may fall if grip fails. Woof! Why I am thinking like that I even don’t know.
I went to office with Yatin. In between Yatin dropped his wife, she is also a working professional. We reached to the office and doing our regular boring data extraction work. Today, there was no physical collection from anywhere. So Yatin spent his whole day in office only, which he don’t like, but I do.
The whole office on side and me on other. For while I was just thinking about those papers and all that stuff. At evening, Yatin came to our section from the aside one and signalled me come.
“They got something very interesting!” Yatin said.
“What is this?” I asked, when I saw some ancient written work. It was on paper only but thicker one.
“From China!” He said.
“Here?”
“Naah, we got a deal. You forgot… they shipped it here.”
“What is it about?”
“As far as I know, it is about something about nuclear power.”
“Nuclear power, in these scripts?”
“Yeah, that’s why it is interesting… They were so advanced!”
Yatin’s expressions was justified. But my half mind was there in garage and half here.
“Whom they will give this?” I asked.
“Don’t know. If you want you can!”
“No more radiations!” I cracked and left the place. I already spent more than half a year in nuclear power and its development and now I don’t have any interest to do more.
This night also, I am busy with my stuff. At 1, I finally got the end. I called Yatin, to not disturb others. He understood and came to garage.
“Advik! Its one…..Wooo!”
TO BE CONTINUED.
