I was standing on nothing concretely, around me everything was black.
"Hue?" I called my sword, but no one replied.
I looked around and I sighed. My hand slipped through my brown hair, rubbing a little bit to release some of my frustration "I can't really lose myself in these situation all the time" I told myself annoyed.
Some noises captured my attentions. As soon as I turned, black magic fire tongues slipped around my arms and my neck, holding me tight, making it hard to breath. My eyes opened up, trying to shout, but everything was useless.
"So noisy"
As I opened my eyes, I noticed that I was in a bed, and someone was keeping two fingers on my front.
"H-Hue?" my cheeks became red as I noticed him laying next to me, with his usual white hanfu and long white hair all over the bed. He smirked and I covered myself even more with the the bed sheets.
"Good morning, my lady"
My husband will kill me.
"What are you doing in human form?" I asked under the sheets, while he was playing with one of my strand of hair.
"My lady, this body of yours is terribly weak, if I come back as soul fragment of yours your recovery might be more delayed" he stand up, as he made me get out from the bed sheets "Finally we can talk" he said while walking towards the big window which was facing a lovely garden.
I stand up a bit, noticing I had bandages around my chest till waist and around my arms. I was wearing a simple white vest, definitely better than the one the people from Arthus lands gave me.
Seems like I was in one of the Officers houses, don't really know why. The houses of the officers were placed away from the city center, but still high on checks from guards as manor of one of the "important" helping hands of the generals of the Alliance.
"I have been here already" I sighed, looking towards the window. There was a beautiful zen garden that was separating the house from the curved walls with some circular windows that were facing the streets of the city.
"My lady" Hue made me look at him as he was smiling "Was there a place in the city you've never seen?"
I smiled, nodding a bit. After all it was my city, how could I even have doubts.
"This body is suffering to contain the power of your soul" he started talking, while I was looking at my arms "When you got killed.." he looked at me, while crossing his arms, with a cold and serious stare "They knew who you were" he said making me opening up my eyes surprised.
"The Lion's Muse"
"The Eternal Breeze Daughter"
"The Mother of Yinyué"
"So many names, yet, they knew they needed to use a lot of power to kill you" he laid on the little balcony of the window, while some rays of light were playing with his white hair, making them look brighter "It was very well planned, but they probably didn't know about me"
He sat next on the bed and looked at me "They tried to kill you, shattering your soul, to be sure you would be never be able to heal"
"How did they know I had the healing power from you?" I asked and he stopped for a moment.
"I don't know" he replied, making me sigh, totally confused "So I took over your body and decided to give them what they wanted" my eyes locked on his glacial stare "I had to shatter your soul to avoid the assassins to feel your energy anywhere for years and be sure to say you were dead... The soul of Soulmasters is more dynamic than normal humans ones. The vital energy is so versatile in order to deal with many obstacles.. But the last hit... it felt like... the same power level of mine hit me" he said while I was holding the bed sheets, feeling an emotion close to madness rising from my inside "It was hard for your soul to recover, shatters were all over the regions" he looked at my hand holding the bedsheet, and he laid his hand on it, making me stare at him
"My lady, you would have died. That was the only thing I could do" he said and I sighed. I was mad at myself because I wouldn't imagine someone assassinating me in a way to block me from all the possible way a soulmaster could heal.
"No enemy of Yinyué has ever had that kind of power" I said concerned "Do you remember who was it? Do you remember anything more than I do?"
"I remember as much as you do, my lady" he replied making me almost cry, feeling hopeless and clueless of my future
"I took five years to collect all the strings of energy the fragments of your soul left. It was hard because I was weaker, I felt that last hit, it's already a miracle you survived honestly" he smiled making me a little bit annoyed.
"Stop smiling"
"How so? In the end we're alive" he smirked, making me even more grumpy.
"ALIVE?! MY SOUL WAS SHATTERED, YOU PLAYED COLLECTING SIMULATOR FOR FIVE YEARS AND YOU EVEN MESSED UP BECAUSE I STILL HAVEN'T ALL MY FIVE SWORDS MEANING I CAN'T FIGHT PROPERLY BECAUSE A PART OF MY SOUL IS STILL MISSING!" I shouted, while he was looking at me with a calm smile, like my moving arms and mad face wasn't working at all to slightly scare him.
"Eh-eh, my lady you shouldn't temper up considering your conditions" he tried to calm me down, while it felt like my eyes were flaming.
"There's one thing to do" he said, making me stop. He looked serious and looked down, like he was lost in his thoughts "Or at least, that you should be aware of... You gotta stay away from the swords of the other Soulmasters"
My face froze between confused and bewildered.
He looked at me, keeping his serious face.
I smirked "Are you jealous?"
"WHY WOULD I BE JEALOUS, MY LADY? WE'RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER AND YOU'RE CHAINED WITH ME ANYWAY, WHAT'S THIS NON-SENSE!?" He exclaimed, making me burst into an evil laugh while his face looked frustrated and grumpy.
Ah yes, he's still a part of me after all.
"Oi oi I heard someone..."
A man entered in the room along with a gentle smile "I am happy you're awake lad..." the man stopped seeing me in night vest with Hue sat in front of me "HEEEEH? WHO'S THIS MAN? ARE YOU AN OUTSIDER? HOW DID YOU PASS THROUGH THE GUARDS?" he exclaimed
"Oh!" I exclaimed embarassed "It's not what it looks like L..." I coughed trying to hide the fact that I almost pronounced his name. It would have caused suspects.
How couldn't I know the name of my old friend?
Hue jumped off the bed and kneel "I am my lady's servant"
The Officer stopped for a moment... My face switched from looking at him to my sword in human form, then back to him... There was a moment of silence like he was somehow loading the situation or trying to give some reason to it.
"DID THEY ENSLAVE A NOBLE TO TRY TO PLEASE THE HEAD GENERAL? DOES THIS MEAN YESTERDAY THEY ALMOST KILLED A KNOWN LADY?" he panicked making me sigh even more
"No no I am not a known lady!" I said, smiling gently "I am Bai Hu... I... We were found in the forent of Arthus, the one that separates the region of Yinyué from it... me and my servant used to live in peace there... My family for generation retired in the wild" I explained.
"That's a big lie"
I could hear Hue's thought and I kept smiling, taking a second to give a side eye to my sword.
"Hoiiii" he sighed while laying his back against the wall and crossing his arms, confused "Didn't know there were Soulmasters outside Yinyué" he looked at us still a bit tense. As soon as he looked at us we smiled, trying to give him zero suspicious aura...
"I am Liam, captain of the exploration and medical research unit" he presented himself, doing a little bow, making Hue staring at him like a guard dog "It's a pleasure to meet you" he smiled.
How could I forget his gentle tone? Liam was one of the most important helpers of the Head General. Officer known for his funny personality but professional pattern whenever the situation required so. Long blonde hair, green hooded eyes. His look was always outstanding and different from most of the people who were living in Yinyué.
He was a tall and fine man, wearing a particular uniform made of a black high neck shirt that had the bottom side green, covered with a long white and golden suit jacket, along with white pants and black leather boots. On the level of his chest , on the left side there was the officer badge made of a medal with a green long string. On his belt, on the side, there was his foil, his beloved weapon, covered by its cover
That's because Liam wasn't from Yinyué. His origins were from one of the important cities Yinyué had commercial contracts with.
"I would love to talk more about yesterday night" he said as he looked at me with a smirk, but then he sighed "But sadly we gotta hurry to the Head General audience room, since you're part of the slaves, so if you can please come with me with your..." he looked at my sword "friend? I guess"
"Servant" Hue corrected him making me blushing even more.
"Oooh how loyal we are" he said smiling like mocking him, Hue looked like he was holding himself from shouting again.
"My lady" He called me, making me smile in panic "Shall we go?" he asked walking towards me, ignoring Liam. He offered me his hand and that made me smile, making me remember long time ago, our first meeting, and how he became a part of me.
I stand up and then my face got into panic again "Like this?! This is a night vest!"
"Hoi Hoii, it's a normal white vest, pretty simple but you're supposed to be a slave, we can't show too much benevolence considering you are still not in custody of the Yinyué region" he tried to talk, while me and Hue were burning inside from frustration.
"How am I supposed to be presentable like this?" I asked myself with a frozen and scared stare
"How can my lady be wearing this stupid piece of trash in public, damn you mortals. If I was still in my true form I would make all of you die to be reborn and die again from my bare hand" Hue thought, making me laugh a bit, noticing how he was trying not to let his face betray him, but I could notice his eyebrows tickle and his lips as well...
"It's okay, after the audience, Lord Lin wanted to talk with my Lady, I guess somehow things will be settled, I ask you please not to make it a big deal, considering he asked me to take you in my manor to give you some help with my healing abilities and...." Liam made me curious about my son, all I heard was till he did talk about his name...
I almost teared up.
Oh my god, Lord Lin wants to talk to me.
Gaaaaaah, my son wants to talk to me!
Compose yourself.
Side-eye to my sword, done.
"Of course, not a big deal after all. I am sorry if I slept too much" I said, standing up with a happy smile, looking at the blonde man. He looked surprised and smiled back at me.
"Then shall we go?" he asked as he made the door of the room slide to open it, making us walk with him.
"Did you realise what's happening, my lady?" Hue told me while we were walking through the street of Yinyué
"Oh she's the Ice Fairy of yesterday!"
"I thought Prince Lin was the only ice soulmaster in Yinyué!"
"She was one of the visitors!"
People started to whisper about me, making me a bit embarassed. A thing that made me a little bit worried was the fact that Liam wasn't the only one escorting us to the Head General audience room, which was in the center of the city, inside the manor of the Yuan's family; my home... but an unit of five soldiers of the army. Kind of weird since it looked like they were escorting a war criminal.
"Is this necessary?" I asked with a embarassed smile at Liam, who for a moment noticed my confused stare towards the guards, and he looked for a moment lost in thoughts.
He shrugged "I don't know, orders of the Head General"
I smiled innocently, Hue laughed noticing my irritated emotion getting a bit over my control
"It's time to meet your husband, my lady"
