Within the dark tomb of the demon lord, hiding deep, within the blood-drenched caverns sat 4 individuals, all with blood on their hands and clothes.
“Do we really have to do this?” asked the tall gentleman
He had a large build towering over the other 3 in the room and his white beard and hair as well as the various scars across his face and body told decades of unknown stories. Sitting on an open tomb, he was relaxed and casual even which the stench of blood filling the room.
“If you want, you can go right back into your tomb” replied the slender but fit man
It was clear that this man was the leader of the group. He was almost naked with the exception of the clothing around his waist fastened by a rope. He sat at the center of the room sitting atop the largest tomb. He had light blue hair which reached his shoulders and had a divine aura around him. He almost seemed angelic in a sense. Faint light shined upon him thousands of miles above the room which was the only source of light available.
“You, what’s your name?”
“M-me?”
“Yes you”
“It’s Alcaeus”
Alcaeus had the appearance of a teen boy but upon closer inspection, his sharp fangs were clear signs of vampirism. He had a closed posture and it was clear he was nervous around the other individuals.
“You’re a Daywalker, right? I’ll need you to go to the demon kingdom then the human kingdom and report back here”
“Right now?”
“Right now. Don’t worry, we’ll all be waiting here”
“Alright, sir...”
Alcaeus got up carefully not to step on any bodies of the golems, zombies and other creatures designed to protect the room against intruders. The builders of the tombs never expected the demon lords to walk the world once again and the result was this massacre. The final of the four individuals watched as Alcaeus left the entrance.
“I want to go outside too...”
“Sorry, but you’ll cause too much chaos. I promise we’ll get out of here as soon as Alcaeus comes back”
The last was a woman with a staff containing multiple rings hanging at the top. Each ring had a distinct faint glow which illuminated her corner of the room. She herself looked very dishevelled and her skin had multiple stitches running through it. She grasped the staff with both of her hands as she pushed her weight onto it in a relaxed manner.
“Why can’t we just go?”
“Think about it, if we were resurrected, there’s a chance the heroes have been resurrected as well. Demon lords are the answer to the heroes after all. There cannot be heroes without demon lords or demon lords without heroes. It’s all a balancing act. If possible, I would like to win just this one time and the key to that is being resourceful”
“I don’t understand what you’re saying at all...”
“You don’t have to just listen to my orders and you’ll be fine.
“I guess I’ll just go back to sleep”
She went back to her tomb and closed the lid slowly.
“So, what are you planning?” asked the white-bearded man
“...Retribution”
