"I mean, Sera says that I still have a long way to go but thinks I've gained a good amount of control of my lysdon powers" Gamer stated, leaning against the railing of the veranda as he stood outside the dorm house, phone held close to his ear and smile spread across his face "That's great to hear!" Ares' voice beamed on the other end of the phone "I'm glad to know you're making such amazing process with everything that's happened so far". Gamer smiled a little more, body shifting a little "Honestly, you're handling all this divine stuff quicker and easier than I would've if I was in your shoes" Ares admitted as Gamer laughed a little "Yeah, you would have already crumbled under the pressure" the fallen joked, getting a good laughed out of the ripper on the other end.
Ares had called, mostly to check-in on Gamer; to see how he was going and how he was settling in with the whole 'Light Spirit' business, back into school and its environment.
So far, the overlord heir hasn't been pushy with questions whatsoever and has been overall patient and kind throughout the duration of their phone call which has stretched on for just over an hour now.
"Yeah- being an overlord heir is stressful enough" Ares stated as Gamer snorted a little whilst trying to suppress a laugh "Sure it is, looking pretty under a veiled-hood all the time must be so tiring" "Believe me, little shadow, I do much more than look 'pretty'" even with the comment, the fallen could swear that he felt that ripper's signature smirk dug at the corner of his lips "But knowing that you think I'm 'pretty'-" "Pretty annoying? yeah, you are". Another laugh spilled through the ripper's lips and deep into the phone "And what about Death? he 'pretty annoying' too?" Ares questioned as Gamer simply hummed in agreement "Annoying, overprotective as hell, huge know-it-all, worries too much" the fallen listed "So gentle and understanding, pretends to be this big mean demon but deep down, he's actually a softie-" "Sounds more like someone has been both thinking and looking at his 'best friend' a little differently". Ares' statement managed to choke a nervous laugh out of the fallen "What?!" "You just called one of Hell's most dangerous demons 'soft' and 'gentle' in one sentence" "N-no... I- we're just friends" Gamer said "'Just friends', huh? so I don't have to fight him to the death for your hand and love?" "No one's fighting over me" the fallen firmly told the overlord heir. "Come on, I know you love the attention~" Ares' voice hummed as Gamer rolled his eyes "Every divine, especially someone so cute, scary and powerful, deserves to be absolutely worshipped-" "I swear to god, if you start sending me expensive shit, I'm posting it straight back" "Okay okay, I promise to not shower you with gifts and 'offerings'" Ares said before the two of them broke out in a joint fit of laughter.
Once their laughter died down, Ares spoke again "So really? are you doing okay?" he asked "Of course I am" Gamer answered "It's just... a lot has changed since last year, and now it's publicly known that you're the Light Spirit-" "Ares, I assure you, I am completely fine" the fallen stated, hearing a sigh on the other end "...I'm sorry, but I'm still worried about you... you've managed to accept all of this so quickly with almost no problem, it just feels too unbelievable" the ripper admitted as Gamer bit his tongue.
In all honesty, yeah... he was lying.
He wasn't okay at all.
Seeing dead versions of his 'past lives'. A shadling messing with his head and dreams, turning them into nightmares. Finding out he was the Light Spirit and the sudden popularity he gained once returned to school.
It felt like too much.
Distracting himself with his friends, training and school work, that's how he has been coping with it all... from hiding from the problems, and now the slowly brewing one involving Death.
"If you say you're fine, Gamer, then I'll take your word for it and won't pry" Ares stated "But promise me, the second you want to talk to someone about anything, I'm here... it doesn't have to be me, but if you need to, promise you'll talk to someone" he asked as Gamer's face dropped a little "...I promise" the fallen said.
Death stood by his bed with his arms crossed, heavily glaring out the window, watching Gamer speak on the phone with the very person the ripper himself despises the most. "He's been on the phone too long-" "Dude, relax" Dark somewhat snapped as the other guys silently agreed.
Death and Dark were currently in their dorm with Leo, Anti and Noah. Originally, Gamer was with them and they were all studying, all before the fallen rushed out of the room to answer a phone call from a certain demon back in Hell. Since then, Death had been watching the fallen from the window, growing more impatient by the second.
"Of course it's been an while- they haven't talked in months" Anti stated "The last time they talked was the night Gamer was almost-" the betraka demon immediately stopped himself from speaking another word.
'Raped'.
Death thought.
'The night he was almost raped'.
And only himself and Anti knew, no one else. It had been a known secret kept amongst the group that ventured into the Lust Ring with the fallen, and only shared with Anti and Angel.
"About six months ago, they should be caught up by now" Death bluntly stated, his anger visibly hissing its way through his voice "Well maybe Ares is congratulating Gamer about being the new Light Spirit?" Noah suggested as the ripper's eyes narrowed "The first time I met Ares, he made it very clear that he wanted Gamer because he was a fallen angel" Death said. "The prick learned about Gamer being a literal divine, now he wants him even more- he thinks with his dick and nothing else" the ripper stated "I mean... if it's Gamer, so do you but you don't hear us complaining" Leo muttered aloud, earning himself a dagger-like glare from the ripper "The fuck did you say?" "You can't say shit cuz you're even worse when it comes to Shadow" the bleddon angel stated, locking eyes with Death. "You're obsessed with him-" "Oh my- you're literally that 'God x Worshipper' ship dynamic" Noah blurted out before trying to cover it up with a small laugh "Look, we get you love him and he knows it too, but some obsessions are unhealthy" Dark told Death, turning towards him "You have to get better control of yourself, before you go feral and rip another guy's guts out" Dark firmly told the ripper who simply turned his head away.
Yeah, he agrees with what he's saying- what all of them are saying. And yes, he agrees that he needs to stop and control himself.
But do you know how hard it is?
Knowing and being extremely close friends with someone and protecting them for thirteen years straight. Falling in love with them on year fourteen and falling so hard that it also turns into obsession, and then that igniting a protective instinct that'll rip out any person's throat if they dared to get close to the person you love. That person literally becoming your number one weakness and causing you to stupid things like how only they can kill you and no one else... and actually mean it.
"....maybe I do have a problem-" "FINALLY!" all the guys said at the same time, cutting off and making Death flinch a little.
Mercury stormed in through the front doors of the Lights family home, Eliora immediately rushing out of the living room to meet the man in the main entrance "Mercury-" "Where is he?" the man cut off the angel lord, harshness in his words "He's still healing, I can't allow you to see him-" "Eliora Ilucianna Lights" Mercury cut her off again, this time more harsh than the first. "As the new parental guardian of the great divine and my sister-in-law, you will allow me the right to talk to the man who stole my son" Mercury firmly stated, and as if instant, Eliora's face was washed over with the man's matching seriousness and coldness as she stepped aside, gesturing to the stairs. Mercury passed the angel lord, rushing upstairs to the floor of the guest rooms, following the hated familiar scent to a room before opening the door and storming in, being met with Michael by the window, old bandages still wrapped and concealing his healing wound. "Mercury-" "When were you going to tell us the truth?" Mercury harshly questioned the archangel "That my son- my only child was the great divine?" he questioned again as Michael's head lowered "When he was a newborn being torn from his mother's arms? when he was old enough to walk or speak? when his wings finally came in? when you started training him or had him placed in the angel guard?". Michael closed his eyes "When he fell into Hell? when you thought you could drag him back and have him easily announced to the world before his parents?" Mercury harshly continued "Or thirteen years later, when he joined the ego program? or when you finally told him what he was? or after the festival's opening night- or were you just simply waiting seventy to eighty years later, after his first human dies?" the man almost hissed the question. "...Simone knew" Michael quietly told Mercury, watching the man's face pale a little yet still hold so much anger "I... I missed my son's entire life..... all because of Waller?" Mercury questioned before growing stiff as the archangel turned, showing him the rune burned onto his shoulder. Michael didn't dare to look Mercury in the eye as he spoke only a few words again "She made me...." the archangel's voice cracked a little from suppressing a dry sob before Mercury rushed over to him, carefully hugging the injured man in front of him "...I forgive you" Mercury nearly choked out his words as Michael's eyes grew glassy, another few words and his last of the day leaving his lips.
"Please.... don't".
Chelsfield, United Kingdom, Human Realm
11:16pm
Soldiers rushed into the house, guns raised as they searched every room.
Empty. All of them.
One of the soldiers walked into the small bedroom; walls old and white, furniture withered like the room, white-laced curtains drawn, desk piled with papers and book, white and yellowed burnt candles on shelves, dresser draws left open with visible signs of clothes missing... and a white metal-framed bed covered in white sheets, floral quilts and a blue and white knitted throw-rug laid across the end of the bed as it sat pushed up against the far windowed wall yet... all the sheets were pulled and crumbled on the bed, showing a rushed departure.
The soldier leaned into his radio "This is Commander Hawkins of team '1.5.5', requesting to speak with Grey Leader, over" "Copy that, Commander Hawkins, report to line 12" a voice stated on the other end before the soldier flicked his radio over to mentioned line "This is Commander Hawkins of team '1.5.5' on line 12, requesting to speak with Grey Leader, over" he stated again, a second later, the army leader answered. "What have you found, Hawkins?" the Grey Leader's voice coldly questioned as the soldier glanced around the room "The Dadkade isn't here, neither of them, it's obvious they left in a hurry" the soldier stated "...right, get me something to use for tracking, anything from the girl, then return to base" "Yes sir" the soldier answered. He walked out of the bedroom, joining his team in the dining room "Sir, take a look at this" one of the other soldier said, showing their commander two notes.
Grandma & Grandpa,
The Widow ghost said I needed to leave urgently and to head to London, and warned me to not let anyone stop me.
I'm so sorry and please forgive me for the sudden leave.
Love, your granddaughter
Our dearest Dawn,
We forgive you and love you so much.
If you return and find this note, do not worry.
Your grandfather and I are paying a visit to his sister and her children for a couple months.
If you come back and still find us gone, head over to Betty's next door and call your Great Aunt to let us know you're ok.
Love you lots,
Grandma XOXOXO
The soldier leaned back into the radio "This is Commander Hawkins of team '1.5.5' on line 12, the Dadkade is in the Mid Realm with the Reaper Princess" he coldly stated.
