"Hey... is Gohn still there?" Marc's voice carried an emotionless tone, yet an underlying anger emanated from him, pressurizing the air around them.
Bell let out a sigh and tossed a banana to Marc, catching him off guard. Confusion clouded Marc's face as he exclaimed, "Eh? Huh, what(・_・;)?"
Bell spoke, his voice calm yet firm, "Finally, you calm down. Words alone wouldn't have done the trick."
Marc grumbled, "Ugh... so you throw a banana? Where did you even get this ba—"
Bell cut him off, redirecting their focus, "Anyway, let's go to bed. I'm sure many things will happen tomorrow."
Although still harboring anger, Marc glanced down, feeling the weight of sorrow in his heart over Jenny's death. Bell and Marc both knew they had the daunting task of delivering this news to the children, knowing how deeply they cherished Jenny as like their own mother. They exchanged sighs and shared a meaningful look before nodding in together, proceeding back to the sleeping room.
-𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆-
Both Bell and Marc rose early, their weariness evident as they prepared breakfast for the children. Despite the sweat and exhaustion, their minds were consumed with the sole objective of bringing smiles to the faces of the kids. Bell and Marc held differing ideas on how to break the news to them about Jenny's absence.
Bell believed in being honest with the children, sharing the truth about Jenny's passing while sparing them the specific details.
Marc, on the other hand, felt it best to fabricate a different story, shielding the children from the harsh reality.
Their conflicting views ignited an argument, each passionately defending their position. However, their dispute was abruptly interrupted by the voice of one of the children, Xander.
Xander, rubbing his eyes sleepily, asked, "Brother Bell? Brother Marc? What's going on?"
Bell and Marc exchanged a quick glance, realizing they needed to set aside their differences. Bell replied, trying to sound composed, "Nothing, nothing. It's time for breakfast. Go wake up your siblings, alright?"
Marc chimed in, his tone softer, "Yeah, we've prepared breakfast. Wake them up, and we'll all eat together ^^ ."
Xander nodded, still half-asleep, and mumbled, "Okay, Brother Bell and Brother Marc."
Bell muttered under his breath and shot a quick glare at Marc before letting out a sigh. "Anyway, let's get ready before the kids show up," he said, trying to shift the focus. Marc sighed in response and started setting up the seats.
As the children entered the room, Bell and Marc were greeted with warm smiles and enthusiastic hugs. Everyone settled into their seats, ready to enjoy the meal. However, before they could start eating, a knock on the door interrupted the moment. Bell and Marc exchanged a brief glance, momentarily frozen by the unexpected interruption. Javier offered to answer the door, but both Bell and Marc declined, causing Javier to look confused and a little scared, fearing he had done something wrong. Bell and Marc reassured him, assuring him that he hadn't done anything and urging him to continue eating his breakfast.
The knocking persisted, accompanied by a voice calling out, "Hello? Is anyone there?"
Bell and Marc approached the door cautiously, with Bell's hand positioned in a defensive stance, prepared to use his skill, Dark Claw. Marc opened the door, and to their surprise, they found a little girl standing there. Their tension eased, and they question as to why she had knocked.
The little girl spoke in a shy, soft voice, her words stuttering as she introduced herself as Vee. She explained that her mother's legs were trapped under a fallen tree, and her mother had urged her to seek help. Tearfully, she shared that she had tried asking others for help, but no one had listened nor believed her.
Marc and Bell exchanged concerned glances, their hearts going out to the little girl. They decided to offer their help. Bell asked Marc to stay at the orphanage, but Marc refused, glaring at Bell in defiance. Letting out a resigned sigh, Bell agreed to let Marc accompany them but insisted they make quick. They instructed the children to remain at the orphanage and not open the door for anyone until they returned.
Bell told the little girl to climb onto his back so he can carry her, and she could guide them to the location more quickly. As they left the village, the girl pointed towards the forest, and Bell and Marc sprinted towards it. They ran and ran, the little girl continuing to guide them through the dense forest. Marc began to show signs of exhaustion, and Bell, too, felt the strain in his muscles. Despite the fatigue, they continued on.
After minutes of running and following the little girl, direction bell begun to think.
"""" ugh... my legs are tired.. but I should keep going to help this girl not lose her mother.... wait.... why'd she choose to knock on the orphanage specifically.. her story doesn't add up.... what about her father?? why is she and her mom so far away from the village?? why is she and her mom even at the forest in the first place?? wait..... no one is left on the orphanage except for the kids...me and marc blindly accepted this girl... arghh!!! shi! shi! shi! all this 70 intelligence yet I got fooled to this??!! """
bell's eyes widen and yelled out for marc, "Marc!!"
The sound of the little girl's cries pierced through the air, her tears streaming down her frightened face. She stuttered, her voice trembling with desperation, "Help! Please..."
Marc's eyes widened in shock, and he urgently called out Bell's name, his voice filled with concern and urgency. "Belllll!"
Bell's attention snapped towards Marc's voice, and he turned his gaze back to his own back where the little girl had been place. To his surprise, he noticed a faint glow emanating from her.
