After a few minutes of tense silence, the old man, Juro, began to explain himself. He clarified that he had come to the orphanage to look at the aftermath of the fire. Spotting Marc lying on the ground, he initially assumed he was simply resting. But as he entered the room, his eyes widened at the sight of Marc huddled on a blanket, surrounded by a pile of bones. Juro proceeded to introduce himself, offering some semblance of an explanation for his presence.
Bell, still feeling suspicious, continued to probe with questions. He asked about Juro's age, to which Juro responded, "I'm 56 years old, kid." While not particularly old considering the average human lifespan of 180 years, Bell couldn't help but refer to Juro as the "old man."
A heavy silence hung in the air for a moment before Bell finally spoke up, his voice tinged with uncertainty. "What's next... after all of this, what do I even do next?" Juro regarded Bell with a hint of concern etched on his face. Letting out a sigh, he stood up and walked away, prompting Bell's surprise. However, Juro didn't leave him hanging for long. With a smirk playing on his lips, he called out for Bell to follow him.
Confusion clouded Bell's mind, but an inexplicable curiosity urged him to follow. He stood up from his seat and silently trailed behind Juro as they made their way to the back of the orphanage. When they reached their destination, Juro finally broke the silence. "Hey... sorry for hitting your head, (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)" he said, though his expression showed little care. Bell's eyes widened as recognition spark on him. "Ehhh?!! You're that old drunk man! I knew I felt like I've met you before," he exclaimed. Juro's smirk widened as he chuckled. "Hahaha, well, that's just how the world works coincidence," he replied, ruffling Bell's hair playfully.
Annoyed by the gesture, Bell grabbed Juro's hand and attempted to push it away, only to find that it remained immovable. shocked washed over him as he studied Juro's unyielding stance. It became clear to Bell that this was a sign a sign that Juro wanted to train him. However, to earn that training, Bell had to prove himself. Meeting Juro's gaze with determination, he asked in a serious tone, "What do I have to do?" Juro, in turn, glared back at Bell before playfully bonking his head. "Hahahah, what are you saying? Did you really expect this to be like some typical boring cliché? Ahhaha, nah, I'm just going to train you because I feel like it," he retorted, a annoyingly twinkle in his eyes. "Bet in your head you were like "I should prove myself " Hahaha that's cringe." Juro laughed teasing bell.
Bell's shock and confusion mingled with a sense of embarrassment, realizing he had taken the situation too seriously.
Juro grinned.
Juro: Well, I do plan on taking you as my student, and I guess I should take him too.
Bell looked confused and followed Juro's gaze, turning back to see Marc standing there, his expression devoid of emotion. Marc's eyes seemed lifeless, as if he had given up on life itself.
Juro turned his attention to Marc and extended an invitation, his voice tinged with a hint of arrogance. "Hey kid, wanna become my student? I'm a pretty strong man, y'know."
Marc, his voice sounded with tiredness, responded, "What's there to train?" His eyes showed the traces of tears shed over hours, the agony of losing his family weighing heavily upon him.
Unfazed, Juro smirked and locked eyes with Marc. "To kill the man that ruined your family," he declared. The words sparked wide-eyed reactions from both Bell and Marc, their gazes piercing into Juro's being. Juro, relishing in the surge of killing intent emanating from both of the kids bell and marc, calmly advised, "Calm down, calm down. In your current state, you wouldn't even be able to get near him. So, I'll have both of you undergo training." Juro calmly stated. Marc glanced at Bell, who nodded in agreement. Reluctantly, Marc accepted Juro's offer, allowing him to take charge of them.
"At sunset, we'll be leaving this village," Juro announced, his eyes shifting towards the sky.
Juro turned to Bell and asked, "First things first, we need to get you two some clothes. By the way, how is it that your shirt turned to ashes, but your pants are still intact?"
Bell: I do not know ( ͡°_ʖ ͡°)?
marc: story plot.
bell and juro: what? (• •)?
marc: Nothing. (-_-)
Juro stretched his arms and suggested, "Let's earn a few coins to buy the clothes." Bell and Marc exchanged confused looks, unsure of how they could earn money. Juro smirked and leaped into the forest, leaving Bell and Marc in awe of his incredible speed and agility. As they admired at Juro's skills, a loud bang echoed from the woods, followed by a powerful shockwave. Concerned, Bell and Marc contemplated climbing over the orphanage walls, but before they could react, a massive spider crashed onto the ground, causing the ground to shake slightly. To their surprise, it was a hunter spider, triggering traumatic memories of past encounters.
bell and marc: Σ(゚Д゚;)
Confused as to why it had appeared at the back of the orphanage, they watched as Juro gracefully landed beside them, casually stating, "Alright, let's sell this monster," a smile showing in his face.
Bell and Marc exchanged worried glances, questioning their decision to follow this seemingly crazy teacher. Nevertheless, they chuckled softly together.
confused by their laughter, Juro raised an eyebrow and asked, "Huh? What? What's so funny?ಠಿ_ಠ"
"Nothing, nothing," Bell and Marc hurriedly replied.
As the sun is setting down the horizon, Juro successfully sold the massive spider, causing a small commotion in the village. The hunter spider fetched an impressive price of 5 gold coins, 10 silver coins, and 100 bronze coins. Juro used 9 silver coins to purchase decent clothes for both Bell and Marc.
Marc looked at his new attire in awe and exclaimed, "Woah ✨... This is my first time wearing clothes like this. Usually, I rely on hand-me-downs or whatever I find in the garbage. Isn't this nice, Bell?"
Marc's smile radiated genuine appreciation for his new outfit. Bell simply nodded and replied, "Yeah." Wearing such clothes didn't surprise or shock him. In his past life, his attire held even greater value and expense. It was so valuable and desired by many people that countless assassins had been hired to try and kill him and steal his garments.
Bell chuckled to himself, reminiscing about the past and relieved that he no longer had to worry about random assassination attempts.
============================
"It has been seven years since you disappeared. Aren't you worried that our friend might still be alive?"
"Hmph. Why would I care about a man who vanished without any signs?"
"Haha, well, there are rumors circulating that he died. Some claim it was due to illness, while others believe he was killed."
"Killed? Him? That sounds more ridiculous than ever. He cannot be felled by anyone else because I am the one who will exact revenge upon him. "
"Hehe, well, that sounds just like you. Never giving up on the person who took your left eye. You are indeed from the 7 deadly sins, the sin of 𝑷𝒓𝒊𝒅𝒆, 𝑴𝒓. 𝑬𝒍𝒐."
