It sure was hard but we did it! The spider was no longer in the lab and although there was no clues to if the lab would ever be safe it was a start!
‘’OK we didn’t put it in a volcano!’’
“Alferd! That was so out of context what on earth are you talking about?!’’
“We didn’t put the spider in a volcano, right?’’
‘’What the… why would you think that I literally never mentioned a volcano!’’
‘’You must have thought it one point, princess.’’
‘’No!?!’’
The night was approaching but neither of us could sleep.
Maybe it was the lingering affects of being a workaholic
Or that the day of fighting and saving a beast
at the same time was too much to handle
and we had no energy left to sleep.
His lips began to move…
''Do you ever wonder what parents would be like?
Someone that actually cared,
that didn’t treat you like s**t?
That listen to all your silly worries,
Gave you the strength to keep going…
In books they always feel so faraway…
What do you think our parents were like?
Would they had sat back as we struggled so much?
Would they give a s**t?’’
He sat back, sighed, looked at me and looked away.
‘’What am I even saying?
Forget what I said princess, what do you want to do now?
Let’s have a break tomorrow, I found a place you might like!’’
My eyes half-close-half-open, I lifted myself from his shoulder.
‘’Yeah, let’s do that.’’
I don’t know if it was because of my tired mind or whatever I’d half-heard him say but, I felt brave.
Brave enough to stroke his cheek to mine and look him deep in his eyes.
Brave enough to say,
‘’You are the most amazing person.
And I’d love you by my side no matter
Where we started,
Where we came from,
What we will become,
I will be your princess and you will be my knight,’’ I gave him a small COMPLETELY PLATONIC kiss on the cheek and continued resting my head on his shoulder.
