"Here you go, your highness, your new room," Charles said. I looked around the room, and that suffocating feeling I had from my old room was gone. The walls were painted white with blue and gold detail throughout. The drawing room was spacious, with lovely blue couches surrounding a large brown table. I walked towards the white doors to the far right, pushing them open, revealing a large bedroom. The bed had blue satin sheets covering the bed with white pillows. I touched the white bedpost and smiled, happy with my new room.
"Prince Stephen, if you look right through that door, that is where the bathroom is. Can you please tell me that it is up to your standard?" Charles said.
"I trust you, Charles, so I believe that it is. Thank you. I appreciate that you did this for me with your limited time. I hope that this task didn't give you much stress?" I said, looking over to Charles, and he looked stunned like Edith did when I thanked her. Am I being polite that is out of character for me?
"I'm sorry, your highness, the task was not stressful. I was more relieved, actually," Charles said.
"Really, how so?" I asked.
"Well, it just seems like you didn't feel comfortable in your last room at all," Charles said. A laugh escaped my lips, and Charles's eyes widened when I started laughing even harder.
"Well, you are right about that, Charles. I was uncomfortable, and I must say you outdid yourself," I said, walking out of my room with Charles close behind.
"I am most please that you like it, your highness," Charles said.
"Well, I think that will be all. I must bathe and head to my study for work," I said.
"W- w- work?" Charles asked.
"Yes, Charles, work. I have been neglecting my duties as the crown prince, and I need to get started immediately. Oh, and while I have you, can you please inform any of my visitors that I wish not to be disturbed?" I asked, and Charles nodded.
"Y- yes, your Highness," Charles said.
"Thank you, Charles. You are dismissed," I said. Charles bowed and rushed out of the room. Once the door was closed, Luna came flying into the room beaming.
"Damn, this room is huge. It makes your other room look like a closet," Luna said, landing beside me.
"I am glad you like it," I said, chuckling at her childish behavior.
"Like it? Nah, bro, I love it. I don't think I will ever leave," Luna said, flying towards the window and looking at the view. I walked up to the window and looked at what she was looking at, and the view of the lake memorized her.
"Never had water where you were from?" I asked, and she scoffed at me.
"I did, but it didn't look like this," She said.
"Well, what did it look like?" I asked.
"It was not as blue as yours, and it was kind of dirty, but hey, that is what I get for living in a city," Luna said, shrugging.
"That doesn't seem like a good place to live," I said.
"Well, yea, it has its negatives, but man, you can find some real true gems there," She said.
"Like what?" I asked. Luna looked at me, and her hair turned grey, and she gave me a sad smile. I wanted to question this, but someone was knocking at my door before I could ask.
"Who is it?" I asked, pinching the bridge of my nose. I thought I had told Charles I wanted to be left alone.
"It's Edith, your highness. Charles informed me that you requested to take a bath," Edith said.
"You go deal with that. I am going to go," Luna said.
"Where are you going to go?" I asked, and her hair gained color again, and she smiled at me.
"Well, I am going on an adventure. Don't worry. I'll be fine," Luna said.
"But-" I called out, and with that, she was gone. I sighed, walking over to the door and swinging it open, making Edith jump.
"S- sorry, Prince Stephen," Edith said. No matter jumpy she gets, I can't help but feel worried about her. I gave her a little pat and walked back into the room. I looked back, and Edith was still in the doorway, holding a bucket.
"Are you going to stay out there forever?" I asked, and Edith nodded, rushing inside. I sighed and walked over to the window. I looked over the lake, and my thoughts drifted to Luna. I wonder what her life was like before she became a guide. Was she happy? What did she do to become a guide? I guess I was looking a bit sad because Edith was fidgeting behind me.
"Are you okay, Prince Stephen?" Edith asked.
"Yes, I am fine. I am a bit worried," I said.
"Worried? Is everything alright?" Edith said.
"Yes, I am just worried about a friend," I said.
"Is about the Sir Magus?" She asked, and I looked over at her and made her jump again. I guess I looked angry. I had to fix my facial reaction when I heard his and Angela's name.
"No, Sir Magus is not a part of my worries," I stated, and I swear I thought I heard Edith whimper.
"I'm sorry, your highness," Edith said, slumping slightly. I suddenly felt like a fool. I keep letting my anger get to me, and I take it out on the people who are nothing but friendly to me.
"No, Edith, I am sorry I didn't mean to get upset with you. I just am worried I might've said the wrong thing and upset her," I said, looking out the window. I heard Edith gasp, and I looked back, and she was holding the bucket with one arm while her hand was covering her mouth.
"I'm sorry, your highness. It seems like you care a lot about this woman," Edith said, smiling at me. I suddenly felt hot when my thoughts were coming back about Luna. I cleared my throat and looked out the window avoiding Edith's eyes.
"Shouldn't you get started on the bath?" I asked, glancing back at her.
"Oh yes, of course, my apologies," Edith said, giving me a slight bow before running into the other room. I looked back out the window, and I felt my heart race. Of course, I am worried about Luna. She is why I get to start over and right the wrongs of what I did in a past life.
"God, Stephen, you have to stop dealing with this. She is just helping you," I said to myself.
"Prince Stephen, your bath is ready!" Edith called out moments later. I sighed, looking out at the lake once more before pushing myself off the wall and heading to my bath, trying to rid my thoughts of my new companion.
My wife and friend betrayed me and let them turn me into a tyrant just to be stabbed in the back. I got a second chance at life this time, and I will not waste it. This time I will make sure I don't turn into the tyrant they want me to be and Be a fair ruler. That won't be hard, right?
