Sometimes it gets very easy to fall into familiar routines. I’ve been an introverted, indoor guy (nerd) for most of my life, so as a youngster I had a blast at home, escaping into drawing comics or Simpsons reruns or maxing out my character levels in EarthBound for the SNES.
It’s gotten better, but the stuff I never worked on still needs work. Like directly interacting with the world more. When I lived in San Francisco I would take the bus to work super early in the morning & I’d see old Chinese ladies in the park doing tai chi, & at first I didn’t get it. Synchronized public exercise in slow motion? But now tai chi makes the most sense in the world. It’s just people moving through the world!
