When she finally arrived, she saw a few familiar faces training under... Reginn?!
"Reginn?! What are you doing?"
"Oh, I'm doing this to avoid getting expelled"
"I don't mean why are you doing this, I mean what exactly are you doing?"
"Isn't it obvious? I'm training these kids"
"What...?!"
"You know what, you come down here too. I mean, you are my disciple, right?"
"Master, I finished the 100 pushups, what do I do now?" said Attila
"Great, now take a small break- come on Sivrit! Get down here!"
Without a choice, Sivrit walked down the stair and entered the Arena.
"Long story short, I need to teach these kids if I don't want to get kicked out"
"Wait, so your identity didn't get found out?" whispered Sivrit
"I have no idea"
"Isn't that like, super important?"
"Ehhh It should be fine, but more importantly do you know how to fight?"
"Fight?"
"Yeah, combat experience. I never saw you fight before so can you?"
"Well, I'm a novice with the sword"
"Great, that means you have the potential to learn. Attila, your break is over, come over here!"
"Yes sir!"
"Alright, now you'll be duelling Attila"
"What? But I said I was just a novice! Attila is basically a warrior already!"
"It's just a test of your current ability, don't worry about the outcome. Rest of you guys make sure to watch closely alright?"
"Yes sir!"
And with that, the sudden spar between Sivrit and Attila began. Sivrit was handed a training sword and Attila chose the training whip. A rudimentary physical armor was also worn during the fight.
"Don't worry Siv, I'll go easy on you"
"O-okay..."
Attila vs. Sivrit
The match began silently, with neither party making a move. This was different from the Attila Sivrit knew, the girl who always took the lead and charged first. Unnerved by the stillness, Sivrit made her first play. She swung her sword but missed by an inch which Attila unforgivingly punished with a whip to the chestpiece which pushed Sivrit back.
"Sivrit! Remember what you're good at!"
She knew that Attila was a talented warrior, but Sivrit believe that she still had a greater knowledge of spells. Since she was not physically adept, she studied alot of magic before attending the academy, hoping that she could become a mage with her intelligence. However, she knew only a few combat spells and mostly just knew utility spells.
"⌈Flash⌋!"
With this spell, she created a blinding flash of light which made Attila flinch away. Sivrit picked up her sword and swung once again but Attila quickly dodged the strike.
"⌈Flame⌋!"
Sivrit pointed her index and middle finger together at her opponent, which caused a large cloud of flame to spew out. Attila swiftly blew it away with her whip, but now her whip was slightly damaged.
"I guess I can go a little bit harder now"
Attila charged at Sivrit without fear while Sivrit quickly prepared her next spell.
"⌈Thunder⌋!"
This time, a strike of lighting extended from her fingertips but Sivrit missed and Attila pushed through the smoke.
"⌈Fla-"
Eventually, Attila got close enough to be in strike range. However, she threw away her whip and instead grappled her elbow around Svrit's head and pulled her arm back. With a wince, Sivrit tapped the ground three times, showing that she surrendered.
"Impressive, you lasted a lot longer than I thought"
"That doesn't sound like a compliment..."
"You need more training... Hmm... Alright, I'm going to make sure you get stronger after we get to Siege's abode. Prepare for some hellish training! And for the rest of you, go home and relax! Class dismissed!"
The rest of the students left the colosseum while Attila stayed behind.
"So, how've you been doing Siv?"
"Oh, I've been doing fine"
"I heard you got into the council, congrats"
"Thanks"
"I just wanted to ask, how do you know master?"
"Master? You mean Reginn?"
"Well he is our teacher now, and he said to call him a master"
This Reginn... He truly had no shame... No self-respecting teacher could even think of something like that.
"It's actually my mission to monitor him as a member of the council"
"That explains things. Let's go hang out sometimes, we don't really get a chance these days since we entered the academy, but we should do something this weekend"
Since her days were so busy, Sivrit had completely forgotten her duties as a friend. To remedy this, she wondered if Attila would be allowed to come to Siege's house.
"Just give me a sec"
Sivrit went over to Reginn to ask if Attila could come. Not that she was asking for permission, but bringing a stranger to this secret location could have dangerous implications. While she did trust Attila, her just knowing this could put her in a lot of danger.
"No"
"Why not?"
"Well, we shouldn't have even brought you there in the first place. We don't have any plans to allow any more outsiders"
"Then why did you let me in?
"Hmm... I guess I just felt like it?"
Disheartened, Sivrit returned and told Attila that she should come to her house this weekend on Saturday. She realized that now she was living a sort of double life now, one as the council member and student, and another as a comrade of the heroes. She couldn't tell the council about the heroes since she signed the contract and she couldn't betray the heroes because well... they were heroes and why would she ever do that. She was in a balancing act between these two groups and she hoped that the heroes would go public already so she doesn't have to keep the secret for long...
