The next morning, Hunter's father left in the morning to go looking for Hunter, just as thoughts began to roam again.
Hunter never came home late, and even if he did, it would've only been a few minutes late. Nothing to get too upset over—sometimes, things happened. Hunter was a good kid, but had insecurities, hid his emotions well when he felt like he had, and despised feeling like he had messed up. Hunter's father knew that very well because…Hunter had to have gotten it from him.
+++ Back at Unknown, with Hunter and the old country couple +++
"Son, you said you came from this place here?" The older, more serious man pointed to the city on the map that was near the ocean. The couple and Hunter had brought out a map, setting it out on one of the few tables in the house so that they could figure out where they were and where Hunter had come from.
"Oh, boy." The farmer pulled up his jeans after the young alpha had nodded his head.
"W-What?" Hunter asked, looking at the farmer. "What does that mean?"
"Boy..we're right here." The farmer pointed to a state a few states south of Hunter's hometown.
"What?" Shock filled his body and he couldn't believe it.
"You're an alpha, aren't you?" The farmer's wife asked, offering Hunter a seat.
"An idiot one too,'' Hunter mumbled and sat down, nodding to the other man in thanks.
"You're not an idiot, son…" The farmer rolled his eyes. "Whatever happened last night must've made your body go and withstand the walk."
"Yeah...I just...I can't believe I did that.."
+++ Back at Home, with Hunter's father +++
Hunter's father standing in between a couple of businesses, out of people's way on the sidewalk. He wasn't alone though but hadn't been paying any attention to the stranger since he had gotten there.
"Are you alright?" The stranger spoke, and Hunter almost felt like he had recognized the voice but quickly ignored it.
"I'm fine, thanks." Hunter's father smoked the cigarette between his fingers but didn't look at the man near him.
The man was getting frustrated and losing energy. He had gone out to look for his son since his day had started but wasn't getting any luck at all.
"Jor.." Hunter's father slowly turned to the man, recognizing that nickname.
There was only one man who had called him that. A man he hadn't seen in years…
Hunter's father dropped the cigarette and his eyes widened when he made eye contact with the much taller, muscular man smiling at him. "N-Nik-"
"Wow, you're still stuttering my name...even after all this time." The police officer slowly got off the wall he had been leaning on.
"Nik.." Jordan whispered and the police officer stepped closer to him. "N-Nikolas."
"Yes, Jordan?" Nikolas grabbed Jordan's shoulder and pressed him against the wall. "I missed you.'' Nikolas, a police officer in full uniform, leaned down closer to Jordan, Hunter's father.
"N-Nik, I have a wife." Jordan closed his eyes after he had fixed his lips to say those words.
"That hurts." Nikolas looked down and noticed the nice ring on Jordan's ring finger.
"Got a kid too?" Nikolas had asked that as a joke but froze up when Jordan nodded his head.
"Y-Yes, he's..he's missing. I can't find him." Nikolas covered his emotions and stepped on Jordan's cigarette.
"What's his name?" The officer moved a few steps backward, giving Jordan back his space as he looked away.
"Hunter.''
"I'll find him," Nikolas said without any emotion or any thought.
"R-Really?'' Jordan's eyes widened and Nikolas ignored the way Jordan's hopeful voice made him feel.
"Got nothing better to do at the moment," Nikolas muttered, shrugging his shoulders. "I'll do my best, Jordan," Nikolas said before turning around and leaving.
Jordan was still in shock but his eyes teared up and couldn't hide his slight tremble, "I-I'm sorry, Nik…I missed you too." The man muttered as a couple of tears left his eyes.
