Hunter found himself walking around the city, realizing that he was back in his home state, but could not find any place that was familiar to him.
"Hello." Hunter slightly jumped and turned to the officer who was pulling his police car right next to him. The officer smiled and then pulled over. Hunter froze, staring at the man in shock.
"You're not from these parts, are you?" The officer asked as he got out of his car. He was an alpha with a strong body with pure black and white hair.
"I-I don't know...I don't know exactly where I am, sir." Rosa woke up but luckily didn't make a commotion in Hunter's arms.
"What's your name, kid?" The police officer asked, taking out a pad.
"Hunter...Hunter Martinez." Hunter slowly nodded his head.
"It's nice to finally meet you, Hunter. I'm Officer Nikolas White." The officer smiled, putting away his pad. Hunter and the officer shook hands after the younger alpha managed to get Rosa in a more comfortable position.
"Uh, do I know you, sir?" Hunter asked, sounding more confused.
"I know your father. He's been looking for you and asked me to help. Come with me and I'll take you to the station. We'll talk, get things figured out and you'll be reunited with your father in no time." Nikolas nodded his head.
"N-Nikolas White?" It seemed Hunter was slowly catching up.
"Yes. That's my name." Nikolas' smile got bigger and Hunter started to walk towards his car, agreeing to leave with him.
"There's a ton of letters in a drawer with your name on them in my dad's office," Hunter said, getting in the car with Rosa on his lap. He had never been in a cop's car before and was trying to stay casual.
"Really?" Nikolas got in the driver's seat, with a thoughtful look on his face.
"Yeah. He asked me to look for something in his office one day and I found them. I didn't read them though, I'm not that nosy." Hunter said, and Nikolas started to drive.
"Alright, thanks for letting me know.." The older man chuckled.
"Who were you to my father though?" Hunter asked, looking at Nikolas.
"That's not important." Nikolas shook his head with a smile on his face.
"And now I'm curious."
"Yeah, well, I need to know where you've been for the last week." Nikolas smiled at Hunter.
"Tell me what you were to my father and I'll tell you." Hunter grinned and Nikolas sighed, seeing as there was no point in trying to avoid it anymore.
"Your father and I used to date.." Nikolas said and Hunter piped up with all sorts of excited emotions that nearly started the sheep on his lap.
"Really?! My dad goes both ways?"
"No...I think he only went one way…until things happened."
"Why didn't I know about you- wait- what does that mean? What happened?!" Nikolas was starting to feel some type of way he couldn't describe. He wondered who had been taking care of Jordan's kid because Hunter seemed to be just fine.
"Just try to stay calm, kid-"
"Tell me what happened." Hunter's tone seemed to change and Nikolas sighed another time.
"Alright...I had been going through my training to become an officer while your father worked with business. Our relationship worked out for a long time. I thought we were doing more than okay…well until I had to finish off my training in another state.." Nikolas' voice lowered and Hunter's mood dropped even further. "During my training, we weren't able to communicate much and it was one of the hardest struggles that we had ever tried to get through. I did not want to give up. I loved Jor with all my heart..but that didn't seem to be enough. When I came back..."Nikolas sat back when he had to slow down and stop at the red light. "Your father left me behind...literally. He disappeared without a trace and there was no way for me to contact him. I couldn't move on from your father for years. I had stopped being active until I was stable again. Your father was my world and I thought I had been treating him right. He knew I didn't want to leave him and he didn't like that I was thinking about giving up the things I wanted for him. I didn't understand why he left. I still don't." Hunter felt something in his heart and Rosa didn't move as he held onto her."I had been moved to this city a couple of months ago..and I ran into your father the morning after you had disappeared." Nikolas drove into the station's parking lot and found his usual parking space to drive into. "That's when he told me he had a wife…and a kid that went missing.." Nikolas looked over at Hunter and saw a lot of teary emotion in the young alpha's expression. "Don't look like that, Hunter…and don't be sorry, kid. I found you." Hunter started to cry a little and Nikolas ruffled Hunter's dark hair as he did his best to comfort him. "You might want to stop crying on your sheep though." Nikolas chuckled after a while. "Here." He gave Hunter some tissues and Hunter managed to clean his face. "Now, will you say your half when we get inside?"
"Can I take Rosa in?" Hunter asked, looking up at Nikolas.
"Sure."
