Meet Ciriaco Contreras, the most famous (or infamous?) bandit in the Maule Valley in the 19th century, and see how crossing paths with two special doctors leads him on a new venture.
There was a time in the 19th century when ruthless gangs of rustlers brought terror among the inhabitants of the Maule Region, in the heart of Chile. By the word of mouth from their victims spread across the whole valley, we've heard about their cunning, boldness and cruelty, which made them celebrities. The government that discarded them once the last Resistance loyal to the Spanish Crown had been crushed thanks to their service years ago, now lack the resources and courage to confront them, leaving their crimes unpunished for decades. However, a fistful of these criminals emerged developing a certain moral code by attacking only the rich landlords and helping the peasants, mostly oppressed by them. They were called The Social Bandits. They became legends.
