The express train to Mica was quite special,as it was the only one of its kind. A mechanical miracle designed by the greatest minds that Adamas had to offer, built by the best craftsmen the world has ever seen The plan was to spread the marvelous invention to the rest of Adam.
Imagine how much easier travel would have been.
"Sir, I’ve been unable to make contact with Mica for a while now." It was one of the train’s crew members; he was a huge and fairly fit man.
It was unheard of for Mica to not communicate like this; there was always someone, whether human or mechanical, at the tower.
A man most likely in his mid-forties shook his head; he was of average height and lanky build. His brown hair, slowly turning white, gave hints of his life's journey. As the proud conductor of the train, the man felt like he had to be strong; he had to be the shoulder for his crew to lean on. However, on the inside, he was panicked. He couldn’t help but assume the worst, wondering what had happened. The conductor, despite his fears, took a deep breath. He had to be strong for his crew and for the passengers on his train.
"Mog, I want you to see if there are any guardians aboard our train." The conductor commanded He didn’t know what was going on but figured that getting prepared for the worst was the best course of action.
Mog nodded and left, beginning his frantic hunt.
Good food was always one way for people to come together, and despite their differences, everyone enjoyed a good meal. The train’s dinner car was surprisingly lively this evening. Families and friends are all having a grand time feasting and laughing with one another.
"Elyn, have you tried the roasted duck yet? The citrus sauce really brings everything together." The tollkeeper smiled as he got ready for another bite.
Elyn shook her head. She herself was too busy enjoying the roast beef and all of its delicious glory. This was nice; this moment was needed—a meal between two friends.
"Maybe we should get Lillian too?" Elyn asked, grabbing a roll from the bread basket.
The tollkeeper smiled and clapped both hands, summoning another small portal. He even summoned a small, adorable table and chair for the fae to enjoy her meal. Placing it on top of their own table.
"Master, hi, hi." She greeted
Lilian, please join us for this most superb feast." The Keeper beckoned, pointing to her table.
The fae took her time floating to her food; she wanted to get a good look at her beloved master. For a brief moment,Lillian stared at the tollkeeper, her eyes filled with worry.
"I’m fine, Lilly." He answered with a small smile on his face to let her know that everything was taken care of.
"You scared me." She whispered, wiping a tear that threatened to fall. Lillian couldn’t bear serving anyone else; Naaririel was perfect for her. She was a free spirit, and he understood that.
"I’m sorry." Naaririel whispered back.
"Are you two okay?" Elyn asked, interrupting the two.
Lillian grinned happily and nodded, finally taking her place at the table.
Yup, yup, thanks for asking Elly; my precious master just decided to worry me for a bit, but now everything is great." Lillian answered, grabbing some of Elyn’s roast beef and potatoes.
Elyn raised an eyebrow and smirked. There were times when she also stole bits of food from her brother’s plate. For some reason, food always seemed more appetizing on someone else’s plate.
"Mm yummy!" She exclaimed as the three quietly enjoyed their meals and the festive atmosphere around them.
Mog continued to search the train; there had to be at least one guardian around here somewhere. Their destination was getting closer by the minute.
"Are there any guardians aboard the train? Please, we need your help!" Mog exclaimed, knocking on each car and asking the same question over and over again.
Each time the poor crewman received the same answer, and with each passing second, the situation in Mica seemed to get worse and worse.
‘Maybe we should turn back. Mog thought it would be the best course of action, but then again, what if it was a minor inconvenience, such as the tower being repaired?
Please, is there any guardian available? We need you in the front car!" He called out again.
"I can help." A voice called out as a random cat door slid open. The figure wore a luxurious lavender cloak; he seemed to be the same height as Mog, although his gut seemed to be fond of tasty food and ale.
"Names Costaark, please, to meet you, laddy." The figure smiled with his right limb stretched out for a friendly shake.
