We walked through, my hand in his, he was going to show me something special.
‘’Close your eyes.’’
I closed them as he told me detailed directions so I wouldn’t trip.
It smelled like damp dirt, but a fruity smell as well.
I could feel the ground warm under my feet.
Nothing was familiar.
Nothing but the warmth of his dry,
yet small,
yet strong hands.
He was my everything.
Like a play with only two people for multiple characters, he was my cook, crush and best friend.
I continue to stumble on smooth roots. Nothing was familiar. The smell was natural and refreshing. The air tasted thick and pasty with salty water.
I could feel a bright smile on his face but hadn’t been given the permission to see it.
We walked…
And walked…
And walked…
‘’You can open your eyes now.’’ I heard Alferd say.
And so my eyes squeezed open…
It was a field of dangling trees,
The sky was clouded but it had never stopped being that way since the gas had spread.
Colour blossomed in the thriving ecosystem,
Swimming in the saline lake.
The ground was mostly covered in sprouts, mud and leaves
But in the centre were seats of moss.
Alferd invited me to lay down with him.
For a moment I had a peaceful day without banging heads on walls and random screams and shouts.
‘’Its perfect, I didn’t even know a place like this existed!’’
I smiled, a smile so great I felt my ears rise.
‘’Me neither I just happened to stumble on the unexpected.’’
His smile the same as mine.
Just for a moment the world was perfect.
This life was amazing and I didn’t want to ever let go of it, of that thought,
Of him.
3 hours past as we talked and rested.
