I was guided by my three companions to a blue shop with a brown roof, it was a weird color pallet in my opinion but it made it stand out as on the sign-out front it said ‘Jessica’s alchemy’. I could only guess as to who I would soon meet and as I walked in, it was as I expected. A younger woman with vibrant blue hair and green eyes looked at us as she smirked
“I can’t tell if I’ve been hugging fumes too much but aren’t there usually only three of you.”
I bent my back a little as I spoke
“Pleasure to meet you ma’am, I’m Mark.”
She waved her hand frivolously as she asked
“What’s up with you newbie? Joined the super squad or something?”
She asked as she ran her hand through her long messy hair.
“More or less.”
She sighed
“Fine, what do you guys need today? Drugs? Material enhancement? I’m kinda busy.”
I didn’t speak as I didn’t know how to respond but Rose spoke up
“Umm… what are you busy with because we are just showing Mark here around.”
The woman rubbed her temples as she spoke
“I’m trying to make a new potion that can heal both Mana and health but the two main components are too volatile so it just destroys the components and gives no benefits…”
I looked over and saw the same glossy look on the three of their faces as when I spoke to them about my plans and ideas.
“Sorry to hear that Mrs. Jessica….”
Again, the woman waved us away but she asked
“Anyway, what do you want to know about my shop newbie?”
I shrugged and spoke honestly
“Learn the limits of alchemical transmutation and possibly create a solution that can maintain mana inside of it to artificially power subar.”
At my words, the women looked blankly at me before nodding
“If you learn how to use transmutation then the possibility of creating an enhanced liquid able to support mana is quite feasible but it will be a very inefficient method compared to regular subar, thus, no point in trying.”
“What if you have no mana to power the sugar?”
“It’s more efficient to drink a potion.”
“What if you have no mana?”
She opened her mouth before closing her eyes and squinting
“You…. Have no mana so am trying to bypass that restriction…. Interesting.”
I nodded before she smirked
“One moment.”
She turned around and looked on her large wooden shelf till she found a large bottle of clear liquid
“This is the failed potion I mentioned, I held onto it because of a very weird property it had, altho very minimal”
She held the neck of the bottle as she focused a bit before the bottle glowed a bit
“It can absorb SOME mana, although it disperses quickly, thus, it’s something I held onto. But, it should mean that there's something out there that can do what you want.”
By the time she finished speaking, the bottle stopped glowing and she shrugged
“So, Newbie, if you lack mana, you can’t use alchemy. Shit luck I guess.”
I kept my eye on the bottle as I spoke
“It’s… like a shitty battery… it can absorb but it can’t store…. If you find an item that can store mana that’s accepted by that same solution a mana fluid could be created…”
I murmured, Jessica stared at me before speaking
“Yeah, but nothing can mix with this, it’s a very volatile potion that will combust or dissolve anything added to it.”
I thought before rubbing my temples in thought and having an idea
“Is blood able to hold mana?”
Blood is a very unique fluid, a very dangerous fluid but to use mana blood HAS to be able to deal with the stress of it. Jessica’s eyes widened as she looked at me and the bottle as she spoke
“I see what you're getting at Newbie, but many problems would pop up if you did that…”
I waved my hand at her before speaking
“It’s a far-off idea, but we can pay you if you look into the concept for us.”
Jessica nodded with a smile
“I was trying to make that 2 in 1 potion because I was bored, but you gave me many ideas on how to make a mana fluid potion.”
The well-aged women smirked as she explained
“As for your concerns on how alchemy works and such, without mana, you're up shit creek, sorry but I can't help you till we find a substitute, then I can teach you, but I hope to see you again, you're too smart for your good.”
She then walked to her back room before turning around and saying
“Flip the closed sign and leave 20 gold on the counter. Come back in a week.”
Then closed the door on us, Lance put the coins on the counter and Tetra flipped the sign as we walked out before Lance spoke
“What the hell did you two talk about?”
I shrugged
“I have no clue my guy, and I was half the conversation.”
Tetra laughed as she spoke
“To the blacksmiths I guess, I kinda want to see what you want him to make you.”
She looked at the 3 scrolls of paper in my pockets as I smiled bitterly
“It’s a weapon we need to add a hush bribe to…”
The three of them looked at me weirdly before we began to walk to the blacksmith’s
