Li Na walked into the house, and noticed her mother's friend Wang Yuling sitting in the living room as if she owned the place. She shot Li Na a disdainful look and said, "Oh look who's back, the sickly one."
Li Na narrowed her eyes and turned to face the woman and said, "Yes, I was sick. But at least I'm not sick in the head like some people."
The woman's face turned red with anger, but Li Na continued, "And I'd rather be sick than be someone who has to suck up to my family just to feel important."
The woman face contorted with rage, her cheeks reddened and her eyes bulging as she struggled to control her emotions she spat back, "How dare you speak to me like that! You're just a useless burden on your family, Li Na. You should be thankful that you have a successful person like me watching out for you."
Without missing a beat, Li Na strode past the woman, her sharp tongue ready to lash out. "Yes, Wang Yuling, you may have some success in your career as a mistress, but true success is not measured by how many married men you can seduce."
"I am your aunt, Li Na," the woman said through gritted teeth. "You should learn some manners and show respect to your elders."
Li Na turned to face the woman, her eyes blazing with fury. "Respect is earned, not given freely to anyone who demands it. And as far as I can tell, you have done nothing to earn my respect. So, if you'll excuse me, I have more important things to do than waste my time with you."
With that, Li Na swept out of the living room, leaving the woman seething with rage. But Li Na didn't care if she had hurt the woman's feelings. As long as she didn't step on her.
As Li Na walked away, the woman muttered insults under her breath, seething with anger and resentment. She had always been jealous of the Li family's wealth and status, and she kept thinking that one day she would become the madam of the house.
The woman, whose name was Wang Yuling, had been a childhood friend of Li Na's mother, Zhang Mei, but over the years she had grown bitter and resentful of her friend's success. Wang Yuling had never married and had always relied on the generosity of others to get by.
As she watched Li Na's back, Wang Yuling's thoughts turned to her schemes and plans. She would find a way to worm her way into the family's good graces, and she would do whatever it took to become the madam of the house.
With a wicked smile on her face, Wang Yuling began to plot her next move.
Li Na was walking up the stairs to her room when she bumped into Li Jing, her younger sister. She muttered under her breath, "What a coincidence. It seems like I keep running into all the unpleasant people in this house."
Li Jing immediately put on a show of concern, trying to act like a white lotus. "Li Na, are you okay? You look tired."
Li Na saw right through her sister's act and responded. "Why do you care? It's not like you've ever shown any concern for me before. Don't pretend to be something you're not."
Li Jing's face twisted in anger, but she quickly regained her composure and put on a fake smile. "I'm sorry, Li Na. I didn't mean to offend you. I just thought you might need some help."
Li Na didn't buy her sister's act for a second. She knew that Li Jing was just trying to manipulate her and get on her good side. She decided to put an end to the conversation and walked away without saying another word, leaving Li Jing fuming with anger and frustration.
Li Na walked to her room, feeling exhausted and drained from the day's events. She shut the door behind her and let out a deep sigh of relief. Finally, she was alone and could relax for a while.
She looked around her room, taking in the familiar surroundings. It was a modest room, with a small bed, a desk, and a closet. Li Na sighed, she knew that the Li family never favored her, despite the fact that she was their daughter.
Feeling the tension in her muscles, Li Na decided to draw a warm bath. She filled the tub with water. The warm water worked its magic on her tired body, Li Na's thoughts drifted away, and she surrendered to the blissful tranquility of the moment.
After a relaxing soak, Li Na dried off and changed into her favorite pajamas. She crawled into bed, feeling the soft blankets envelop her in warmth. She closed her eyes, ready to drift off to sleep and forget about the troubles of the day.
