Varaha, the younger brother of Vikara has finally arrived at the estate after a 6 month-long break. Varaha in appearance is quite a bit like Vikara, except he is much plumper. There are no scars on his face, giving off the impression of an aristocrat than that of a cutthroat, unlike his brother. Vikara greets his brother and welcomes him. Father Rashva is delighted and welcomes his son.
Varaha - "These six months went by real fast. Hope I didn't miss anything?"
Vikara - "Ohh. We have a lot to discuss. Come inside. Father set up an entire banquet since you and Dhamini were arriving."
Varaha - "Where is she?"
Vikara - "Karni left to pick her up. He should've been back by now. Wonder where they wandered off to."
Varaha - "Is she going to be okay?"
Vikara - "It is sundown after all. Maybe they thought to keep off the woods at night and took shelter in a nearby village. They'll be here at dawn. I'm sure!"
Vikara pushes him to a chair and signals the maid.
Vikara - "You just sit here and eat till you fill your tummy. You must be hungry."
Varaha - "I could eat an elephant!"
They both smile. Vikara also takes a seat. Father Rashva also joins them. They exchange laughs and jokes, all of which signify a bond among them.
The next morning, Master Vikara is notified by the guards about an armoured carriage approaching them from the distance. Vikara walks outside to see it for himself. There are multiple men in military outfits.
Vikara - "Khasi militia? Why are they here?"
The carriage stops abruptly. Karni exits the carriage and asks for the guards to stand down and lower their weapons. Vikara walks towards the main gates.
Vikara sees his sister coming out of the carriage.
Concerned he asks Karni - "What happened?"
Karni - "A bandit attack. Had to take refuge at the Khasi village."
Vikara - "Who was it?"
Karni - "Don't know. But they were trying to funnel us into a trap. That tells me they were no amateurs. They were sent to kill, possibly."
Vikara - "Are you hurt?"
Karni - "No. But it was a close one."
Vikara walks towards his sister and hugs her.
The militia is thanked by Karni after which they decide to be on their way back.
Vikara asks her sister to go meet the others. He looks visibly agitated. His sister walks inside the estate gates.
Vikara walks up to Karni and whispers - "Find out who those whoresons are. Take Arkha and the others. I want to know who sent them."
Karni nods.
The family have a reunion. Varaha hugs his sister. Father has prepared her favourite meal. It is a happy and united family, at least for now.
Karni is laying down on his straw bed near the stable.
Karni's unable to get Zerdan's words off his mind - "You're no longer his slave."
