In Siberia, buried 40 meters below the Earth’s surface, a new nematode was discovered. A 1 mm species of roundworm, named Panagrolaimus kolymaensis, which was determined to be around 46,000 years old living in a cryptobiotic state. In a lab setting researchers were able to reanimate the Panagrolaimus kolymaensis, which immediately began to reproduce, having babies on the laboratory dish it came back to life on. Our comic takes inspiration from the Panagrolaimus kolymaensis remarkable ability to reproduce.
