Alexsis's POV
I could tell that Celeste was extremely shocked at seeing me here, even though she didn’t show it. However, I saw that her eyes widened for just a millisecond before she recomposed herself. She looked away, and said coldly, “Next time watch where you’re going, newbie,” With that, she walked off without looking back.
I was left there equally shocked, yet also not surprised at all. I really should’ve expected this, she has to keep up her reputation. What did I expect? A hug? I guess I really can be naive at times. I flusteredly walked off when I noticed that several students were staring at me. It was only my first day, and I was already off to a terrible start.
I could tell just how ‘great’ the rest of my high school experience would be.
I went to my new dorm after the incident. Each dorm houses 4 students, with 2 master bedrooms including 2 queen-sized beds, walk-in closets, 1 kitchen for the four of us to share, a 100 square feet living room with a big flat-screen TV and the newest gaming systems. None of the things here were cheap, the kitchen had the newest and most advanced technology, complete with huge bookshelves full of classics and 2 desks in each bedroom. Even the bathrooms were huge and had just about everything you needed.
The school pays for your food too, when you need different ingredients or such, you can order off of the iPad installed in the fridge. They even have same-day delivery! All you need to know is how to cook since there’s no option for takeout unless you buy it and pay for it yourself. These things are luxuries that I never had, or even heard of, but were as common as breathing for the other students here.
When I first heard that we were going to have roommates, I immediately wanted to know who. Who were going to be my roommates? Thankfully, the academy tells you. They sent me their names in my orientation letter. I researched them and their families right away. I’ve heard loads of stories about abusive and rude roommates, but fortunately, my new roommates were nice enough, and they are also from 9th grade.
Even though I’ve come to this school before for the orientation day, I still couldn’t help but be awed at how big and luxurious this academy is. This place was the definition of a castle. If this was how rich kids lived, I really can’t even phantom how rich grown-ups and royalty lived.
My roommates were Adrian, Damien, and Emma. Julien and Damien were twins, not the identical kind, and the only sons of Lucien Petrov III, who was the owner of a big oil company. They were Russian, yet spoke English so fluently it might as well be their native language. They both had dirty blond hair, sharp black eyes, chiselled cheekbones and were tall, skinny, yet muscular.
Elizabeth was the daughter of Olivia Lewis II, the owner of a very famous model agency. She was British and spoke with a bit of an accent. She had long dark brown hair, watchful black eyes, and an hourglass figure. She was relatively beautiful, and could easily be a model or actress.
All of them had been at this school since Grade 7 and had lived together in this dorm for 2 years. They seemed friendly enough.
As I made my way over to my dorm, I felt slightly nervous to meet my roommates. What if they didn't like me? They weren't snobs, were they? Even though I've already done the research, you can't always believe what the internet says. The hallway was very long since the dorms were all extremely large. Expensive paintings were hanging on the walls and some decorative plants.
My heart sped up as I reached my dorm, 2-A. I slowly breathed in and out, calming myself. When I walked in with my suitcase, I saw that Emma was there.
"Hey!" Emma greeted me with a reassuring smile, "You must be our new roommate."
I smiled awkwardly, "Yes, that would be me. I'm Alexsis,"
"Nice to meet you, Alexsis. I'm Emma," Emma said, holding out a hand.
I shook it while replying, "Nice to meet you too,"
Maybe this won't be so bad. Things were actually going pretty well.
Then Damien and Julien came out from their room, both holding a controller and wearing gaming headsets.
Damien said, "Hello, you must be Alexsis," He also held out a hand, which I shook.
"Nice to meet you, you must be Damien," He nodded, as his brother stepped up and held out his hand too.
I shook his hand as well, as he said humorously, "I'm Julien, Damien's brother. It's nice to have another roommate,"
There was a glint in his eyes that showed that he was being genuine.
"I look forward to getting to know all of you," I grinned.
"As do we," Emma replied. "Now, how about we show you around?"
The news spread around the school like wildfire, which was that I, the newbie who got in by scholarship, had already managed to anger the queen bee, and was probably next on her hit list. There were quite a few people that she didn’t get along with well, and she’d use all her influence and wealth to take them down.
And so, most people started avoiding me, as though they’d also get ‘targeted’ by Celeste if they seemed friendly with me. I didn't believe any of that crap, I guess even rich students need gossip to stay entertained.
The classes were relatively hard but I could keep up easily. Although I must say, it was drastically different from regular high school, which I went to for a year before managing to get into here. The schedule was also different from normal high school, since we also lived here, the classes started earlier and ended later. My schedule was pretty decent:
