Man or bear?! Pictures that drew skepticism emerged of a Malayan sun bear living at a Chinese zoo. The photos showed the sun bear’s backside, revealing what appeared to be droopy fabric, looking similar to an ill fitting sweater. Could the rumours be true? Is this sun bear nothing more than a man in a costume? The zoo’s official statement denies the claim, and zoologists support it. Though more research into the subject has revealed that other zoos have used unscrupulous tactics. One zoo used a dog to pose as a lion, who blew its cover when it barked. There also was the case of one zoo having two men dress up in gorilla costumes, in what the zoo claimed was an April fool’s day joke. The sun bear seems to be an absurd claim, but what if it was true? This is the inspiration for this comic.
