After Sohyun was discharged from the hospital, Sohyun's parents headed to their house. As they arrived, Sohyun found himself in front of a big iron gate. He stepped inside after Mrs. and Mr. Lee saw a large double-floor modern house with grey cermet walls and a black gable roof. The house was surrounded by a small garden with a few trees and flowers. There was a long driveway leading to the house.
As soon as you walk inside, you'll see the corridor designated by a large, expensive painting on the left wall and a big palm plant pot next to it. On the opposite side, you'll find a large mirror mounted on a stand. As you step forward, there's a round staircase to the second floor in the middle of a large round hall, and if you look to the right you'll see an entrance to the living room and TV lounge area. Then, on the other side, it is the entrance to the dining room and the kitchen. At the end of the corridor, there is a door leading to the garden and a second door leading to a study room.
On the second floor, there were two master bedrooms with a walk-in closet and a private bathroom. And also, two guest rooms with an extra bathroom between them. One of the master bedrooms belonged to Sohyun's parents, and one of them was Sohyun's room. Sohyun's room was decorated in shades of blue and grey. It was filled with his favourite books and his stuff. All his belongings were neatly arranged in the room.
~
Sohyun was astonished by how this house is so big. Also, he has his own bedroom with a private bathroom now.
He used to share one room with his two siblings when he was still living as So-Ah.
Sohyun's mom said, "Here is your bedroom... You must be tired, so take a shower and rest until Auntie 'the housekeeper' gets dinner ready."
Sohyun nodded and replied awkwardly, "Alright. Thanks, Mrs~... I mean... Mom!..."
Aish... I can't get used to calling them 'mom and dad' since I had my own parents until a few weeks ago!...
Mrs. Lee grinned bittersweetly and said, "It's okay, dear..." Then she left the room.
Sohyun took a shower and dressed up, then he stared at the reflection of his image in the mirror and said, "You're not that pathetic girl anymore~... Let's enjoy it, So-Ah..."
He jumped on the bed and lay down, staring at the ceiling blankly.
When he was in his world, Sohyun's phone buzzed. His phone caught his attention. Jaemin's text notification appeared on the lock screen, and fortunately, the phone was unlocked right away due to face recognition.
Sohyun was so excited to get a text from Angelic boy that he opened his text immediately and read it. "Oho! Let's see what he sent! Hehe."
Jaemin's text was :
[Hi, I've heard that you came back home.
I'm happy that you recovered now.
I reckon your mom should have told you about what happened to you because of me, and I know that I shouldn't contact you, but I just want to tell you that I'm so sorry, and also thanks for everything. I won't bother you anymore.
Bye, my old friend.]
Sohyun thought hmm~ He must be feeling guilty, huh! It is sad that his friend is actually gone, and I also don't know what happened to him. So I'm kind of feeling guilty like you. But still, he chose to save you by himself. And also, thanks to him, you and I both are alive. Sometimes, we just can't avoid fate or find out what the reason behind it is.
He let out a sigh and wondered how to answer Jaemin's text.
Sohyun's mom called him downstairs as he was lost in thought. Sohyun rushed down to have dinner with them right away since he was extremely hungry to the point that he had forgotten Jaemin completely. "YES! FOOD!"
Afterwards, he had a chat with his parents about going to school tomorrow and some other things since he had lost his memories for almost more than an hour.
When Sohyun came back to his room, he was so drowsy that he fell asleep right away after slumping down on the bed...
~
On the other hand, it was 2 AM, but Jaemin was still awake, staring at his phone as he was wondering if Sohyun must really hate him although he doesn't remember him. That was probably the reason why Sohyun read the text, however, he hadn't gotten an answer from him yet.
Jaemin gritted his teeth as his heart throbbed in pain. Let's end it for his sake. He's going to get hurt again if you stay with him.
He then put his phone away and closed his eyes, trying to sleep.
That night, Jaemin had a dream about the past.
His dream was about when it was their summer break, and Jaemin was waiting for Sohyun to come to the place where they were supposed to meet, but Sohyun had been late.
When Sohyun arrived, he was sweaty from running. He apologized to Jaemin for being late and told him that he was late because Hanna wasn't feeling well, so he took her home.
Jaemin was a little irritated, but he said that it was fine.
First, they went to the bookstore to buy a few book references, then headed to Sohyun's place to have dinner together. That night, Sohyun asked Jaemin to sleep over and laid a mattress on the floor for him as usual.
As they lay down, Jaemin asked, "Are you still awake? I have something to say..."
Sohyun muttered, "Nah... Go on."
Jaemin was anxious about what he was going to say to his friend. He took an inhale, then said, " Actually... I-I'm... Gay..."
Sohyun glanced at Jaemin, "I know."
Jaemin was taken aback. "Huh! How?... S-since when?..."
Sohyun grinned and said with his usual calm voice, "Boy, you're my old friend, and you've never been interested in girls! So I just guessed it!"
Jaemin felt embarrassed and asked nervously, "Don't you feel disgusted?"
"Why should I? It's just about the preferences. You're my best friend no matter what..." Sohyun paused and continued worriedly, "Just be careful at school because our school bullies can torture you to death if they find out...And I'm just too weak to protect you."
Jaemin felt a warm sensation in his heart and smiled, "Thanks..."
The scene in his dream switched to another memory, which was from 2 months later after their talk, "The accident day."
When Jaemin was fed up with all the things that had happened to him. When he wanted to end his life...
Since he couldn't tolerate it anymore, Jaemin lost his will to live...
He ran away with all his might desperately as he was overwhelmed with his sorrowful feelings.
And Sohyun was running behind him, trying to catch his friend, "JAEMIN! WAIT..." Sohyun was panting hard since he wasn't able to run as fast as Jaemin, "What are you... trying to do?!... Hold on!..."
Jaemin shouted back at him as he stopped in the middle of the street while the cars were honking loudly and cursing at him for standing there. "I'M TIRED OF THIS SHIT! I CAN'T LEAVE LIKE THIS! LEAVE ME ALONE!!!"
He then closed his eyes and muttered, "I wanna end it all..."
Sohyun's heart skipped a beat as he saw a truck was about to hit Jaemin. He rushed towards him and pulled Jaemin's arm, then pushed him away anxiously.
As Jaemin came back to his senses and opened his eyes, his gaze fell on Sohyun's worried eyes before getting hit by the truck.
A loud crashing sound echoed in Jaemin's ears as he shouted, "NOOOOO..."
Jaemin gasped in fear and opened his eyes, founding himself in his dark room. He grumbled, "That dream... Again..."
~
Tomorrow morning, Sohyun's mom gave him a ride to school and left. Sohyun entered school as he was confused about where he should go.
He passed the front entrance and looked at his surroundings anxiously. That was when Hanna's voice came from behind. Sohyun turned around excitedly as he heard that familiar voice.
Hanna said happily, "Babe~ You're finally back!" She grabbed Sohyun's hand and made a few bashful jumps, "Let me show you class!"
Sohyun smiled and said, "Thank you, Hanna!" Then he followed her happily.
They walked upstairs and entered class together.
Hanna showed Sohyun's seat and then said, "You're sitting here... Unfortunately, I'm in the next class, so I have to go now... But!... I will come after you to have lunch together."
Have lunch together! Kyaaahhh! I've always eaten alone at my previous school!
Sohyun was so excited about Hanna's suggestion. "Okay! See you later!"
After Hanna left the class, Sohyun sensed the heavy vibe of other kids staring at him while whispering to each other.
What's wrong with them?! He wondered as he was taking out his notes and books.
At that moment, Jaemin entered the class, which made the mood even more tense.
He sat down next to Sohyun's seat quietly as Sohyun raised his hand to say hi to him. However, Jaemin ignored him and rested his head on the table, trying to avoid Sohyun.
Oh! I guess he's mad because I didn't reply back to his text!...
Sohyun poked Jaemin's head lightly with his index finger, "Hey... I'm sorry about last night... I fell asleep..."
Jaemin didn't respond to him, which made Sohyun annoyed, and then he groaned irritatedly, "Don't ignore me on purpose! Show me some reaction, at least!!!"
Jaemin broke his silence after a few seconds and said, "You don't even remember me, so don't bother yourself to talk to me..."
He suppressed his real feelings. Sorry, but this is the best way to not get involved with each other anymore, so you won't be in trouble because of me.
Sohyun mumbled in a gloomy tone, "But I only know you and Hanna here..."
Jaemin flinched slightly when he heard Sohyun's voice. He couldn't help but feel guilty, not knowing what to do, Gosh...
I don't like being alone, but somehow, in this new life, I'm feeling lonely again. Sohyun thought as he sighed.
