"Good luck!"

The well wishes came from various directions as Ethan pushed his chair back and got up from the oval meeting table. He slung his backpack over his shoulder and then lifted two middle fingers in the air. Aiming one of them at the Alpha King and betas present in flesh in the room. The other finger was aimed at the screens on one side of the room where various betas called in weekly from different sectors. As the territory was large and some betas were stationed hours away, the meetings were hybrid.

His response was met with laughter. He did not look forward to teaching 21 young women how to defend themselves and how to handle dangerous situations would they become Luna. Ethan grabbed the door handle.

"I can see you need them more than they need you. Those fingernails of yours can really use a manicure. I'm sure they can teach you."

Ethan stopped and turned to the screen where Mason was visible. He then gave Mason a smirk that said he was up to no good.

"Sexist." Sean commented from his chair next to Jesse. Mason started to protest.

"I found out the reason why you're stuck in Sector Hell Hole," Ethan commented lightly. Mason's sector was anything but a fun surrounding. "Enora is in the selection pool."

Ethan stepped outside and shut the door, but not before Mason shouted "What?" and Jesse sighed. Or growled. Ethan couldn't really tell. He walked towards the training room where the women would be expected to arrive 5 minutes ago. He opened the door. He had expected to be met with 21 women who would be silent, waiting for his arrival. Instead, not even half of the women had noticed his arrival. The others were chatting or admiring the scenery outside.

He opened his bag and pulled out small foam balls. He started throwing them. They would not leave bruises, but hopefully would startle the women who were not alert enough to pay attention. He winked at Enora when she saw the ball coming, but did not quite catch it. He forgave her for her hand-eye coordination right now, the fact she saw it coming and at least tried to shield it off, was better than most of the women showed him.

Most of the women yelped in anger or fear when they were hit by a ball and some shielded their heads. It made him aim for their chests or stomachs instead.

"Self defense starts with being aware of your surroundings." Ethan started. "You have a target painted on your back, chest and forehead wherever you go. No matter where you are. Never assume you're safe. No one should be able to enter a room without you realizing it."

He heard a door on the balcony above him open and he knew Jesse entered. Jesse had already said he would come by to watch a bit. Not many had noticed his entrance. It was almost comical. 

He aimed the last ball at Enora again. The woman had her eyes focused on the balcony, on Jesse. The ball flew in the direction of her face, but before it could even hit her, a brown haired girl snatched the ball right out of the air and met his eyes. Ethan froze and time seemed to stand still.
