The next day Richard had arranged for everybody important to attend a meeting in the throne room, which included Arthur, Norman, Walter and Robert. They all turned up and Arthur sat on the first row of chairs that had been placed in the room. Normally the throne room is just a big hall that Richard shows off to everybody, but it can double as a big meeting room as well. Norman sat next to Arthur and Robert sat next to Norman. Walter sat on an entirely different row of seats down the middle. No women were allowed in, so Lydia was uninvited.
Once everybody had arrived they were all chatting away which caused Richard to completely lose his temper.
'SIILEENNNNCE!' he screamed `Anybody who talks out of turn will be thrown in the castle dungeon! I hate it when people ridicule me, for I am the greatest ruler the Rosethorne Kingdom has ever had!' Norman then said to Robert:
`But we've only had two other Kings and they were both shit'
`First of all, I want to congratulate my brilliant son Arthur! He showed military skills that would have matched mine in my prime!' The whole audience burst out laughing and Arthur looked totally embarrassed. Norman also looked completely bemused by what he said.`With Arthur as a commander of our wonderful army we will surely be winning battles for years to come, and our enemies, zombies, necromancers or ordinary people, will tremble before us!'
The audience laughed again.
'But now,’ he continued ‘I have some important news for you. According to the necromancer leader, who was interrogated by ruthless torture last night, Juliet has some very... interesting hobbies. She likes to make potions out of human blood in order to make her younger!' The whole audience gasped `Furthermore, she kills these people after she's done taking their blood, and worst of all, she has a grand scheme to take over our Kingdom!' The whole audience was sent into panic and huge uproar began. `EVERYBODY! CALM DOWN!'
This went on for nearly half an hour before and Richard was unable to say anything else. It became so bad that he thought he might have to stop the meeting entirely. He eventually called in the guards to settle everything down, and began speaking once again.
'The necromancer in question knew Juliet personally at one point, and as an unbiased source of information with nothing to lose, me and my assistants declared what he said unfortunately must be true! Therefore we must look to other regions to strengthen our army!'
'Wasn't he going on about how amazing the army was?' Robert asked, looking at Norman
'Yes he was, he's a complete idiot' Richard continued speaking.
'The first thing we can do to raise an army against Juliet is win over the people of Silverwood, the second largest city in our illustrious Kingdom'
`Isn't that the city that doesn't like us?' Arthur whispered to Norman
'Yep… oh boy’
`And to do this job of winning over the citizens of Silverwood is Arthur!' Arthur then said to Norman:
`How did I know he was going to say that?'
`I knew he was going to say that too, what the hell's wrong with him?'
'This meeting is over, you can all go back to what ever it was you were doing... oh wait before I forget the captured necromancers have all been executed, including their leader'
And so Arthur left the throne room along with Norman and Robert, Walter was waiting for them.
`I don't believe what the king said about Juliet wanting to take us over' said Walter
`It just sounds... a bit extreme, but anyway, it seems the King has another big task for you Arthur'
`This sounds pretty boring though, I mean isn't this something that a diplomat would do?' bemoaned Arthur.
`Yeah, I don't what goes on in that old man's head sometimes.' Suddenly though a familiar voice shouted:
`Arthur!' It was Richard `Come over to the briefing room, I've got things to show you! Robert and Norman, you both need to come there too. and Walter, you can get lost!' Walter then walked away in obvious disgust.
