Vanessa huffs as she turns the knob of Alex’s room trying her best not to wake the sleeping Beta in her arms. Locked. “Why is it locked?” Vanessa whispers to herself. “Do I wake her or…maybe there's another way.” Vanessa thought, staring at the offending mechanism. “Fuck it,” the alpha whispers grabbing the knob and pulling breaking the brass object off of the door. “I'll get her a new one.” Vanessa mumbles pushing the door open as quietly as she can. “Where is the bedroom? I've never been past the living room in one of these rooms…Maybe,” Vanessa thinks hesitantly walking down the small hallway next to the couch. “Three doors, great,” Vanessa says a bit too loud causing Alex to stir. “Sorry,” Vanessa whispers choosing the first door on her right, “Bathroom, maybe the next-”
“Yes, bedroom,” the alpha whispers with a smile as she pushes open the door, stopping in her tracks at the groan from the woman in her arms. After waiting a few minutes to ensure Alex had fallen back asleep the alpha slowly walked over to the bed, gently setting the smaller woman down before pulling the blanket up to her chin. “Good night Alex.” the alpha whispers before taking her leave. Halfway out of the apartment-like room, she remembered the damage she had done to the door knob and decided it wasn't safe to leave her mate without some sort of safety. It would be a horrible idea. So, she grabbed a chair from the kitchen and sat outside of Alex’s room for the rest of the night for…safety reasons.
Alex sighs as she walks her way into her living room stopping mid-step at the sent of her alpha. “Why is she here?” the beta thought, slowly making her way to her door. As the door opened Alex noticed two things, her alpha was sitting up and alert, and number two…her doorknob was missing. “What the hell happened to my doorknob?” Alex asks pulling her door open more.
“It was locked and I didn't want to wake you,” the alpha spoke, turning to face her mate.
“Why didn't you just use the keys?”
“I didn't want to touch you without your consent. It was bad enough that I picked you up…but I couldn't just leave you on the couch asleep and defenseless-”
“It's fine. I'll…fix it,” Alex says rubbing her forehead. “Do you know if there’s a store in town that sells stuff like this?”
“We have extra knobs, I was going to fix it myself-”
“Don’t. I'll do it,” Alex says sternly. The thought of anyone having a key to her room without her knowing overpowering her wants to allow the alpha to fix her wrongdoing.
Vanessa nods slowly, “If you need any help you'll ask me, right?” Alex nods noncommittally, “Okay, I hope you have a good day.”
“You too.”
