Spirit Quartz is a fusion between Nora Universe and Amethyst, and first came into being when Nora was 12 years old.
As she got older, Nora became insecure about her physical appearance (seeing that she was different from other human children); teasing from Lars did not help the situation. This caused Nora to become subdued and introverted around people outside of her family and the Crystal Gems.
One day, Amethyst finds Nora hiding away after a run-in with Lars. Trying to cheer the young hybrid up, Amethyst ends up coaxing Nora into a dance-off. In the process, the two accidentally fuse for the first time.
