After being well-rested and full of food, they both carried onto individual tasks, Ellava was doing her normal ritual of cleaning, and Gareicht was at the table writing a letter to his captain. Later on in the day, when the sun reached its highest point, they heard the door open. Gareicht had already mentally prepared himself.
It appeared to be a woman, she had a hood draped over her face, so her species was unknown, her eyes were sparkling--to the point there was something eerie about it, Gareicht just couldn't place it, but he didn't want to dismiss the gut feeling.
The mystery woman moved forward and said, "Oh." at the sight of both of them, "Hello, my name as Yzith." After introducing herself she continued to ogle the cathedral.
"Wow, it's in such great shape, I heard it was abandoned."
"No, I've been living here for quite some time. I've tried to keep it in tip-top shape so I'm glad you like it." Ellava's smile was beaming.
"Are you a nun? So pretty." Yzith's attention has apparently switched over from the cathedral to Ellava now, Gareicht watched in silence.
"Oh um, I guess, and um, thank you?" Ellava's ears were turning red.
Even though Gareicht planned on just watching in silence, it wasn't for long when he became the next target for a barrage of questions. Once he saw her zooming over, he prepared for the worst, trying to fold up his letter and put it away, however Yzith got there first and asked him, "Are you her boyfriend?"
Gareicht spit out his drink...all over his letter, and because it was folded the liquid got everywhere smudging the ink which made him grimace afterwards and Ellava jumped in surprise.
"Wh-what? No-!" Gareicht clarified, "We're just friends...?"
Ellava nodded.
"Aw what a shame," Yzith pouted, "I think you both would make some cute kids."
The constant barrage of attacks has Gareicht practically defenseless, and Ellava has overloaded her brain capacity due to how flushed her face is. Both were pretty much down for the count.
Yzith then walked over closer to Gareicht and then put her arm around his.
"Then if you're up for the taking, how about me? I mean, you're quite handsome, well-built and you have pretty eyes, I typically don't see people with heterochromia."
Hearing this made Gareicht regain his composure, and the comment about his eyes made his brows furrow as if she was acquainting him with a freak show.
"Sorry but no," He said curtly, "What are your motives?"
Hearing the suspicion in his voice, Yzith let go, and said in a pouting tone, "No fun."
She walked to the center of the altar, she kneeled down and prayed, and while she was close to the floor, the windows around them broke--people jumping in. Gareicht's suspicions were hereby confirmed and immediately tackled her to knock her out.
While she was out cold, Ellava was about to face off against five different cloaked figures, as they weren't equipped with many weapons, she had assumed they were going to with mana.
She prepped herself by calling forth her holy spear, and they all lunged in towards her, one revealing a concealed knife. Gareicht ran towards the armed assailant and blocked his knife with his sword. He kicked the armed assailant backwards and turned to see a battle of magic, once one called water "Seivulan" Ellava would turn it into ice "Cazavil" and smashed it. When the magic kept going back and forth like this, she put a barrier "Bafiel" around her and Gareicht, and called forth one of her strongest elemental spells, "Kreivolv!" The lightning poured into the room, dancing on the wet part of the floor and on the assailants wet clothes. They passed out due to the shock.
With that Ellava removed her cast barriers and used a non-elemental magic, bind "Binael" to tie the assailants and Yzith up, considering it was extremely unlikely they weren't linked together. She wanted answers.
While waiting for them to regain consciousness, Ellava cleaned up the floor, again, and Gareicht rewrote his letter, painstakingly. When it was finally done, he sealed it, placed it in his pocket and took a breath.
He will not be happy if he has to write that again, that goes without saying. He told her that he would be delivering this later after they had woken up. While waiting for time to pass, they had lunch, socialized a bit, and sat in silence. Once the assailants woke up, Gareicht crowded them, putting on an intimidating front.
"Who sent you?" He asked, he was met with silence and so he crouched down to meet their eye level. He repeated "who sent you" in a deeper, angrier voice.
Nothing.
Will they be killed if they talk? Gareicht wondered. He had to up his game a bit.
He grasped onto one of the assailants fingers, and grabbed his sword.
"Are you being forced to stay silent? Just so you know, I can very well chop off your appendages one by one until you come clean. Now who's scarier, your boss or me?" And he stabbed his sword onto the ground, straight in between the fingers, however the fact that it was a close call made the person in question yelp in surprise.
Not that I want to though, Gareicht added that mental note.
Ellava just stayed back, a bit terrified of Gareicht's current demeanor--regardless of whether he was acting or not.
The assailant who's hand he held captive regained his composure, "You're not scarier, at all. Our boss is worse. Even if I lose this finger, or this hand I can just have it healed with magic."
Gareicht frowned, So much for that, if they weren't scared of being chopped into pieces they weren't liable to say anything. He was about to say, 'Then die!' but he turned his head to the unconscious woman, Yzith who was being to come to. He lifted her face, and put his sword close to her.
"Those idiots are too tight-lipped to answer my questions, how about you fill me in?"
Her eyes went wide, "N-no, please spare me. I don't know anything either. All they did was ask me to distract you guys, I don't know anything else--I swear!"
Ellava walked up to Gareicht, "It's okay Gareicht, you can let them go, we're not going to get anything out of them like this...and seeing you act like that is kind of scary."
"Oh." Gareicht blinked and re-sheathed his sword, "Sorry."
Ellava walked forward, spear in hand and pierced her spear into each of the assailants one by one. Seeing the way they were forcefully lunged out was kind of amusing to Gareicht, but then he thought about how it must feel like when his curse is inevitably removed.
When she got to Yzith however, she showed that Ellava's bind spell was no longer in effect, and put Ellava in a headlock.
"A woman is more believable, no?" She smirked, as her body began to morph into the body more akin to a man. Gareicht began to run over towards them.
Instead of trying to release Yzith's grip, she gripped onto her spear tighter, stabbed the blunt end of her spear into Yzith's body and then stabbed her on the main side, which flung her out of the cathedral like the rest.
Ellava rubbed her neck, and took a deep breath.
"Are you alright?" Gareicht asked her, concerned.
"Yeah, I'm glad that you were here." She smiled, still rubbing her neck, as the assailants went on their merry way.
"I'll be back soon okay, I just have to mail this." He rubbed the hair on her head, "Be on your guard if anyone else shows up, okay?"
"Mhm," She nodded.
As Gareicht left, she looked at her mess of a floor, "Now to clean this mess up."
Gareicht went into town and looked for the post office, and instead of having mail sent by man or drone, it was instead a magical device. Once Gareicht went up to it, it was sucked up into a tube and went on its way, as it had mana activated at the end of the tube to teleport it to its correct destination. He sighed as he headed back to the cathedral, the floors were clean, and he could smell food being prepped. He couldn't tell what it was though, but figured it was probably an Elven dish. As he walked in, Ellava turned towards him.
"Welcome back!"
"I'm glad to be back."
