Once morning approached and light soon reached the sky, a wash of brightly saturated colors illuminated the cathedral. Gareicht was about to get up, but his body felt so heavy. After struggling to get up, he saw how red his face was.
"Is this...a fever?" He said weakly. And plopped back down on his bed.
He guessed all the traveling, stress and protecting Ellava from assailants with not the best of sleep finally caught with him, it made sense. He wanted some water though. So he forced himself to get up and struggled to get to the door.
I haven't had a fever in so long, this is hitting me so damned hard. I can barely move.
He carefully inched his way towards the kitchen to grab a glass of water, Ellava was already there.
"Gareicht, good morning." She turned and then noticed his current state, "Are you okay?"
"Ugh, I think I have a fever." He felt his head.
"You should be back in bed." She was worried.
"I just wanted some water, I'll go back to bed in a minute." He was leaning against a wall to help hold his weight up. She came back over with a glass of water and he drowned it down in a moment's notice.
"Thanks, I'll see you later." His heavy breathing worried her and after she put his glass down on the counter, she went under his arm.
"?" He looked at her confused.
"I'll help you."
He just nodded at her, it looks like he didn't have enough energy to do much else.
Once they were both adjusted, they slowly made their way to his room and he plopped down on the bed.
"Elves have good hearing, if you need anything, just call for me, okay?" She told him as she pulled the covers over him.
His eyes had already closed though, so she cast a small ice spell to cool down his forehead, and then tried to heal him, but noticed that her healing spell wasn't working.
"This is weird, why isn't it working? ...Is his fever due to his curse, how far has it spread?" Worriedly, Ellava wanted to look at his markings, but considering that she didn't have his consent she called for her spear to come to her instead.
She held the spear to his body, shaking and anxious, but then she felt a hand reach out to her.
"Don't." His voice was raspy.
"But--" Ellava's worried tone began.
"It's okay, I'll recover just give me some time."
"Why won't you let me help you?"
"If you use that on me, I'll be forced out and you'll be alone again."
"But I don't want to see you suffer!"
"I don't want to see that look on your face as you watch me leave. Forgive me for being selfish."
The tears streamed down her face and he wiped them away, "Don't cry."
"I'm...I'm crying for you since you won't."
He laughed weakly and closed his eyes again.
I need to get an ice bag. She thought, and silently left the room, and something easy for him to eat.
She grabbed a bag filled it with ice and left it in a cold state, then she began to heat up some broth for him to drink.
"Will he be well enough to keep his food down if I make him something?" She wondered.
Once she poured some of the broth into a mug, she grabbed her ice bag and went back up the stairs.
He was still sound asleep, albeit twisting and turning. She placed the ice bag on his head and he seemed to calm down a little.
"Gareicht," She spoke softly, "I have some broth, would you like some?"
No answer, she decided to leave him alone, and left some broth on the small table. She left briefly and came back with a note telling him if it's cold she can reheat it.
Next off she went to her library, to see if there were any books about removing curses without the use of the holy spear. She researched for hours, stopped to check on him, and then continued.
The only somewhat relevant spell that she could find was a different holy spell which would use up most of her mana, it couldn't remove it, but it could slow it down. She grabbed the book with her, and returned to Gareicht's room. The ice bag already melted for the most part so she took it off. She grabbed onto his hand, holding the book in her other and started reading the spell. Once she finished she got to that drowsy state from her depleted mana and fell asleep. Gareicht on the other hand calmed down and his fever broke, so he began to sleep peacefully.
It would be a few hours before he came to, and noticed that she was asleep, holding his hand.
"You were here the entire time, I told you that you didn't have to worry, you know." Gareicht smiled, he looked at the floor and saw the book in her hand. He carefully grabbed it and tried to read it, it was unfortunately in Elven so there wasn't much luck with that, however he was able to realize that this was a holy spell. He looked at his curse marks and they had recessed down a bit. She must've not only slowed the curse from spelling but also made it revert back a bit. He looked over to the table and saw her note and the broth. By now, it was cold, but he still drank it anyway.
He looked back over at her, gently picked her up, and brought her to her bed, he would've left her in his, but it was probably covered with his sweat right now, which would've probably grossed her out. He wouldn't blame her if it did, even he was grossed out.
After placing her under the sheets, he grabbed at his shirt, it was covered in sweat and it smelled.
"Ugh, I need a shower." He quietly went into the bathroom, locking the door behind him, and then got in the tub. It wasn't a shower which he preferred, but it was better than nothing so he didn't lament for long. After it was over he felt so much better. He grabbed at some of the clothes in his suitcase and pulled the sheets off his bed.
Is there somewhere I can wash these? I mean, they probably use magic to clean this, or wash by hand? Hmmm. I'll just hang them here for now. Gareicht was lost in his thoughts.

Ellava came to in her room, she let out a moan in her sleep and slowly got up.
"Hm? I'm in my bed?" She then recalled the day's events, and noticed how dark it was right now, barely any light passing through at all. She got up from her bed and walked to her door, she walked out into the hallway, light barely passing through, so she grabbed a candle. And went into Gareicht's room, he wasn't there though. His sheets were also pulled off so she figured he might be washing them. Turned out that he was just using the room next door to sleep, she laughed a little bit.
"Good night Gareicht," She smiled and returned to her room.
