Osir was one of the first people to enter the class. He sat in the back corner by the window. He just watched as more and more students entered. While some sought a conversation, Osir decided to sit and do nothing. It also looked like no one even noticed him. One girl was going toward him but Professor Olsen came back and asked everyone to take a sit.
-Welcome everyone to Center School. I’ll be your classroom teacher for the next three years. My name is Professor Patric Olsen. This is a European school that has students as far as southern Italy and as close as Sweds from this city. All of you here have Esper powers. You might have already exchanged information about powers with your classmates. I’ll be teaching you theories about Esper powers. With a better understanding, you can use your power sufficiently or make it stronger. As for military tactics and training, there are teachers that used to be soldiers. Oh! I’ll also help you practice your powers in general. If you have any questions please raise your hand.- Explained Olsen.
-I have a question.- One girl in front raised her hand.
-What is it miss…
-Sonia. Sonia Schiavone. Do our teachers also have esper powers?
-Excellent question. Most of us have them. I have a power named Wave Link. It’s a perfect power for a teacher like me. I can calm down everyone here and make you focus better.
Another girl, sitting right in front of Osir, raised her hand and immediately stood up once the professor pointed at her.
-The first-year students can join the S.R.A program?- She asked with a serious tone.
-If you show the results and capability then yes. If not. You’ll have to wait three years till you finish the school. Of course, we are going to do our best to get the best results.
Those were the only good questions. The rest of the students asked about the cafeteria, breaks, and locker rooms. After an hour of talking with Professor Olsen, it was time for the next lesson. To the room walked a man in military uniform who looked to be over fifty years old. He was missing his left arm and left ear. He had a thick grey mustache.
-Good morning students. My name is Pierre Montagne. I’m a World War Three veteran and your teacher. With my wisdom and experience, you will learn about military tactics and how to survive on the battlefield.
One of the students after hearing his name stood up and saluted to the old man.
-It’s an honor to be your student sir.
-So you heard about me.
-For my country, you’re a hero. If not for your military tactics Ukraine would fall to the eastern army.
The teacher said something in Ukrainian. Both he and the student laughed while the student right beside him tried to not laugh too hard, holding his hand against his mouth.
-Ekhm… I may not have Esper powers but for years I’ve been working in the military. People both with and without powers moved according to my commands and were able to survive and win their battles. With good tactics, even a C-rank Esper can be effective on the field.
-Like with that S-rank Esper your squad eliminated?!- Said the boy that earlier tried to hold his laughter.
-Yes. My squad was made of three soldiers and the C-rank Esper was able to eliminate the Chinese S-rank Esper. This Esper had full control of the ground he was standing at. With quick thinking and cooperation, we killed him with one shot. Some compared this to four squirrels killing a wild boar. Sounds ridiculous, yet it happened.
Seeing how the whole class was amazed by his story, the veteran decided to tell more of them. Unfortunately, he had to stop because of the bell. The next and last lesson of the day was on the training ground. The teacher was already waiting for them. Most of the time, his eyes were on Osir.
-You’ll be calling me Lieutenant Meyer. You’re gonna get through basic military training and usage of your powers on the battlefield. Squads made of esper soldiers consist of three to five people. That’s the most effective number of soldiers in a squad. There is twnety-one of you so there will be seven squads made of three people.
Some of the students that had already acquainted themselves thought they would make a squad. The Lieutenant tried to say something but the chatter was too loud. He reached for his whistle and that caught everyone's attention.
-That’s not how you’ll make a squad. Everyone who wishes to become the squad’s captain, step forward.
Thirteen students stepped forward. The lieutenant counted the students and after not seeing one person he wanted he came up with an excuse.
-Since we need one more person to find worthy captains… Osir. Come forward.
Without any words of objection, Osir joined the rest of the students. Being chosen by the teacher made some of the people curious and some of them cautious.
