Gareicht jumped up from his bed, remembering how his sister visited his dream in his sleep. He took a deep breath and got up out of bed.
As his senses were waking up, he heard a sound, he opened up his door and noticed Ellava was playing the organ. She noticed him above and said, "Ah, was I being too loud, did I wake you?"
He stared at her for a moment, she was sitting so elegantly at the organ, her perfectly fell into place, as light streamed through the windows as if to surround her in a warm glow. Her green eyes sparkled as they continued to reflect off the incoming light, her earrings were like little orbs of light that reflected the light even more. Eventually she looked at him confused and he broke out of his gaze, feeling a bit awkward that he got caught staring for so long.
"No, I woke up before I heard this. Good morning." His tone showed how awkward he still felt, and tried to avoid looking at her again.
He looked at what time it was, he ended up sleeping in.
"If you're hungry, I saved some food for you." Her voice was still gentle and full of consideration, as if she didn't notice or care that he was caught staring at her.
"Sorry that you had to eat by yourself, I didn't intend to sleep that long." He grimaced, feeling extremely apologetic.
"It's alright, I was going to wake you, but you looked so peaceful in your sleep."
He ended up blushing at the thought of her watching him sleep, which in turn, ended up making her blush as well.
"Um, I wasn't in there too long, just at first I thought I heard laughing so I thought you might've been awake."
Pang.
He wanted to ignore it, but he felt slight disappointment, even thought he knew she was just trying to be considerate and clarify what had happened. His heart was tense and it felt like it was being squeezed. He looked away from her again to try and calm himself.
"Oh, um, my sister visited me in my dream last night."
"She did?"
"Yeah, essentially she told me to grow up and made me adamantly swear not to visit her. She can be so stubborn, pft." He grabbed his saved food and ate it up rather quickly. Fortunately for him, changing the subject made his heart be at ease. He owed his sister one for that.
She stared up at him a bit worried,
"Oh."
"Don't worry, she's
always like that." He finished his food and brought it back upstairs to
the sink to wash them, he listened to her continue to play and once she started
to hit the organ's keys again, Gareicht was walking down the stairs he started
to hum along to the tune without realizing it.
When he walked up to her, still humming, she ended up stopping and looked up at him.
"Hm? What is it?" He looked puzzled at her.
"I didn't know that you liked to sing."
He froze. Damn my subconscious habit kicked in again.
"It was bad, right?" He looked embarrassed, he wanted to bury himself in a hole and stay there for awhile, when he was young he used to hum along with his mother as they were cooking and it ended up sticking as a habit. It's been pointed out to him multiple times throughout his life, the most mortifying part was when it happened at school.
Not only was it bad it was probably off-key, too, He grimaced, I really got to stop myself from doing that again.
"No, it was good, I liked it, and it was just humming." She added. Her words lifted his spirits before he even realized it, but he figured he should probably explain his reaction.
"No it's just I get super self-conscious when I end up singing or humming in front of people, so I try not to do it. It's been pointed out to me for most of my life, so it feels like a different kind of curse dragging me down..."
"I don't think you should consider it a curse or a bad thing, I believe it's a lovely skill to have. Would you sing along with my tune?" Her eyes filled with kindness and determination didn't seem to care.
He was a bit awkward at first hearing that, but after a moment of consideration and a deep breath, and his voice and the organ's tune were simultaneous. It was a joyous melody, and they both felt that, through music they became closer.
Unbeknownst to them, there were three shadows that were lurking closer and closer to the cathedral. It was Vincent, Kira and their comrade.
They nodded towards one another, readying their weapons of choice. With one last look they began to inch closer and closer.
They moved stealthily, however even if they didn't--Ellava and Gareicht were so in tuned to playing their duet that they most likely wouldn't've noticed.
