So more often then not, I don't use greetings. I never start a greeting despite (most of the time) knowing the proper response for a few reasons. Though, I do respond to greetings about half of the time when said to me because it was part of my "this is how allistics would react" training. Sometimes I respond, but not with an "appropriate" response. Like someone will say "good morning" and I will say something like sure or yeah. Occasionally, I'm so caught off guard by a greeting I'll say something that they really don't want to hear or know, like "I'm gonna brush my teeth".  

I just find greetings really forced.  You rarely meet a person who is saying good morning non-rhetorically. This is the same as how was your day, good night, how are you doing, how have you been, how is so and so, etc.  

Even allistic people know that when asked those questions they don't actually want to hear about you. But further science into why this happens point to brain waves. People use this call and response technique to read brain waves and ping a person on their human radar. This can be really frustrating and troublesome because we don't know the correct response since we don't have the same type of brain waves.  

I say we start our own call and response where we ask a question and then the person answers is honestly and however they want.
