Thank you for reading my first attempt at a novel. Spiral Knights: A New Home was something I'd been thinking about and planning for many, many years before I started to write, rewrite, and rewrite until finally publishing episodes here on Tapas. Based on the game that shaped my teenage years, this story was meant to explore the world that I felt players could only moderately explore ingame. Of course, I didn't get very far with this first attempt; I only did seven episodes over the span of two months, and while challenging, it was still fun to write.
I can't thank enough everyone who spent any amount of time interested in reading this work.
Of course, it's been two and a half years since this got an update. Why now? Because I'm back at it, of course! Not here, but with a new entry titled Spiral Knights: Project R. This novel is based on the beginning of the second half of the game, and makes up what I plan to be book 3 of the whole series I'd like to eventually finish. The series has been updating weekly for over two months at this rate, and while academics can limit my time here and there, I'm managing to keep the updates pumping out every Tuesday.
For those familiar with the game, this arc in the story revolves around the getting ready for and confronting the Roarmulus Twins, one of the main bosses of the game. However, I've gone and created a fully fledged story arc using the missions from the game as simple plot points or mentions; what really happens is new and unique to my story alone, so if you're interested then check the description for a link to the first episode!
As of this upload, I've just about reached 800 views and my first milestone of 25 subscribers, and words can't express how glad I am to know other people are enjoying my work. The likes and few comments I receive help motivate me a lot as well, and I'd like to think I've improved my writing enough to warrant the support. I'll come back to rewrite and actually complete book 1, A New Home sometime in the future, but not before I finish book 3. A weird way to write, I'm aware, but according to my brothers who have expressed the most interest in seeing everything play out, 'You've written the intro five times already, why not try moving past it?' And philosphy from Zimthose is not something to be lightly ignored!
Based on the MMORPG ( https://www.spiralknights.com/ ), Spiral Knights: A New Home follows the crew of the Skylark as they crash land on a mysterious planet and search for a way to get back home.
While I'm done writing this series for now, please check out its continuation in Spiral Knights: Project R! https://tapas.io/series/Spiral-Knights-Project-R/info
