Alex sighs as the door clicks closed. “I did too much today,” she mumbles, forcing her legs to move. The weight on her shoulders seemed to get heavier with every step she took away from the alpha’s room. Her mind was so clouded she almost didn't notice her legs start to give out, Alex felt defeated as her arms reflexively started grabbing for anything to stop her from face-planting. She more watched than felt as her shoulder impacted first, to be honest, she barely felt it. She did feel her head slam into the luckily carpet-covered section of the hardwood floor. Alex groaned as she felt the weight on her shoulders begin to flatten her like a pancake. “Alex?!” she heard the alpha call but couldn't get her body to care enough to move.
“Alex?” Vanessa asks, her voice thick with worry as she limps over to Alex’s motionless body, “Alex?” Vanessa falls to her knees next to the beta.
“I'm fine…Just lost my balance,” Alex mumbles, pushing herself off the ground.
“Are you sure-”
“I'm fine, you should be in bed,” Alex frowns waving the alpha back to her room.
“Alex-”
“I'm fine,” Alex insists gently, leading Vanessa back to her room.
“Alex-” Alex leads a bit more persistent, “No!” Vanessa growls nearly scaring the beta out of her skin, it wasn't an order or demand it was a statement. “Something is wrong and I want you to tell me what it is,” Vanessa pleads.
“It’s nothing, I’m just tired,” Alex says rubbing her forehead.
“That’s it?”
Alex smiles, “That’s it.”
“If something else is bothering you.”
“Nothing else is bothering me, but if something comes up, you will be the first to know,” Alex reassures, leading Vanessa to her bed.
Alex groans, pressing play on her meditation playlist before trudging to her bed. The last thing she remembers is face planting on her bed then…
“Alex?!” Alex jumped at the voice yelling through the door before a big thud landed against the door.
“What the hell?” Alex grumbles, stumbling towards the front door, swinging the door open with a groggy, “What?”
“Are you okay?” Alex squinted as she looked up at the nuisance.
“Vanessa? What’s wrong?”
“You didn’t wake me, I was worried,” Vanessa stumbles, looking past the Beta for any signs of trouble.
“What? What time is it?” Alex asks, digging through her pockets for her phone.
“Seven thirty.”
“Seven thirty?” Alex asks confused, “I was thirty minutes late, what’s the problem? I thought you didn’t have any meetings till this afternoon.”
“I was just worried,” Vanessa shrugs, feeling a little embarrassed.
“Well don’t be. I’m fine, just a bit tired,” Alex sighs tiredly, stumbling to the couch.
“If you need a day off,” Vanessa suggests, stopping mid step, “Can I come in?” Alex waves dismissively, “I’ll be fine for a few days. I’m basically halfway healed,” Vanessa says enthusiastically, walking over to Alex.
“You’ve only been in the cast for three weeks.”
“The doctor said I only need to be in it for six weeks,” Vanessa corrects.
“Yeah, if you stay off of it,” Alex smiles at the Alpha.
“I have been staying off of it!” Alex raises a doubtful brow, “Okay, so I walked on it a few times-“
“How’d you get to my room?”
“I…walked.”
“With your crutches?” Alex smirks.
“…No,” Vanessa covers her face in defeat.
“Mm, six weeks my ass,” Alex’s chuckles, burying her face in a throw pillow.
“Come on, I haven't walked on it that much,” Vanessa pleads.
“It’s not just walking on it, there’s standing on it, putting too much weight on it. Hell if it doesn’t heal correctly they might have to fix it manually and god only knows how long you’ll have to stay off it after that-“
“I’m sitting, I’m sitting!” Vanessa pouts, holding up Alex’s feet long enough for her to plop.
“Good girl,” Alex mumbles as the alpha lowers her feet before gently massaging them.
“Don’t push it.”
