Enclave, a collection of huts with various herbs hanging to dry out and several animal horns
and skulls. They felt him enter and eyes and heads peered out of their huts to see what is
lurking in their domain but none wanted to greet him with a hostile tone as he never really
liked people and he would have zero qualms of slitting their throats but trying to kill a High
Druid was a hard task as they can command the forest to come alive and rip someone apart
with thorns and brambles then rip you apart with the raw power of air and earth. A large hut
sat at the edge of enclave as Bane approached he was stopped by two large werewolves “Wet
dogs, take a bath, better yet get out of my way I’m here to see Dolidah” Bane said with a
glazed expression in his eyes but these wolves weren’t having lip from someone “Small child
wandering into the jaws of Fenir should know their place” Bane burst out laughing but it
turned sinister very quickly “Maybe I should turn you into a permanent wolf that way when I gut you I can tan
your hide and wear your skin like a trophy” there was a voice from the hut “Golg, Dirn let him pass,
don’t take this one lightly he commands more power than you know” the werewolves stood
aside and let him pass snarling at him but he simply barked at them like a dog to mock them
then he turned and laughed. Entering the tent he was invited to sit down, Dolidah was a large
man, his face was always concealed as the force of nature is always faceless “Bane, I see
Darius is injured is that why you are here? The fact you have the stink of that prison on your
clothes” Dolidah threw him some clothing “Do change and take a bath in the hot spring, you
stink of fresh shit and maggots” Bane bathed himself seeing the extend of the damage that
had been inflicted on him, he was bleeding but not enough to die but just enough to be
concerned. The hot spring had healing properties and the wounds quickly healed but the mind
was still damaged, Bane had hope that Dolidah could help heal him and also assist in his
other plan.
of dried meat, some herbs and a drink that was black and the smell that brought back some
pretty good memories “Coffee?” Dolidah asked pushing the small bowl towards Bane
“Pleasure” he said taking a sip, it was so refreshing and clean tasting it was rejuvenating
“Now Bane, what brings you here?’ Dolidah asked “A couple of things actually, first where
do you stand on the whole Virtus situation?” he asked, Dolidah narrowed his eyes “Virtus
leaves us be, he claims he has no intention to destroy us but my instincts tell me he was
planning to try conquer us but I think he may just leave us since we don’t or need to disrupt
anything he is doing” Bane noted their was a touch of fear in his voice “He needs to die” it
was straight to the point “I see, we will not stray from our neutrality to attempt anything to
have his gaze land over us for helping you. What is your other reason for being here?”
Dolidah needed neutrality and never walked into the outside world as he believed that they
are the only ones that are in perfect harmony with nature “I need the Grimoire Simulacrum
Dase” Dolidah looked at him sharply and narrowed his eyes again “What could possess you
to do such a thing?” he asked “I want my own body, I am tired of not being myself, I’m sick
of protecting this infantile boy who takes credit for everything I’ve done” he was yet to
understand his own motivation but he was getting close “A transference of that nature would
require a combination of three manifestations, you know that but a fully formed body? It’s
almost impossible given the circumstances. Also, we cannot perform that kind of ritual
because it requires a concert of multiple minds and a fresh body with no soul or mind, how
do you think you will acquire this?” Dolidah knew why, a separate person one who could
leave the confines of Darius’ mind and strike out on his own, knowing he may just die in the
first instant someone sees him since he radiates that kind of aura, a murderer “I know of a
place but this order is several leagues removed from anywhere, you would have to traverse
the Eternal Breach” a massive gap in the weave that had a singular order there slowly closing
it over the years but the circumstances surrounding their manifestations was always a mystery
“They may not even let you into their domain, you are an abomination to most of the world,
how would you take a new form and leave Darius holding all the atrocities you have
committed? Do you still have no feelings towards Darius at all?” Dolidah really wanted to
know “I couldn’t care if he fell on a sword and killed himself, that would put an end to the
unending misery I have to suffer while being apart of his mind, I’m a manifestation of his
fear, anger, sadistic thoughts, every dark thought and feelings he ever had created me,
imagine being something created by a shattered mind and realizing that you cannot escape?
How would you feel being trapped behind a fucking wall, beating it until your hands bleed
and your voice became hoarse? I’d rather spend an eternity in the Iron Gaol than be locked up
in his head again, it’s the worst kind of pain” he was uncomfortable but at least he had let go
of that little bit of malice he had but there was still a monster behind those eyes “Can you
remove runes of pain from someone still? Or have you druids lost those kinds of skills?”
Bane asked, Dolidah looked at him as if to say are you crazy? “Of course, why do you ask?”
Dolidah raised his eyebrow “This body is being bombarded with agony, I can’t feel it since I
can’t occupy him, Darius is sleeping and I can’t wake him until the wounds are healed and
his body is functioning. I’m trying my hardest to heal this body continuously while the runes
are still active” the mind is tired Dolidah could see it, the intense focus Bane normally would
have had diminished almost to the point of exhaustion “Take the shirt off and we’ll see what I
can do” Dolidah said, he summoned several druids and they performed an ancient ritual
where the runes glowed bright red then began to lift, flesh started to rip as the runes peeled
off like skin, Darius’ body convulsed and the ground began to crack and splinter, there was a
scream from Darius’ body as the runes formed into a face, it was Virtus. The visage of Virtus
shouted insults and obscenities at the druids then in a flash of red light it vanished leaving
Darius quietly sleeping.
“There will come a time Darius when we part, but I leave you with these memories, you
know what I know. Go with your instincts as little as you have but go with them, when we
part I will be glad to skin you alive” Bane laughed as it slowly became quiet again. Darius
awoke with a start checking himself all over “Ah so you have awakened Darius” the old druid
smiled “Dolidah? I remember now… I remember everything” he placed his hands over his
face and trembled but no tears came, whatever the ritual consisted of Bane was now apart of
his psyche, he still felt the dragon’s presence but Bane had been betrayed and merged with
Darius’ own personality “No dark feelings or anything?” Dolidah asked “No just the same…
emptiness I had been feeling before he even took over, he did save my life but now that I’m
back in control I have a job to do” Darius said “Will you go to the Eternal Breach?” he asked
“No, I need to find my companions and then travel to the Viridian Steppes” Dolidah almost
spat out his drink “The Doll Maker’s domain? I would not venture there even with an army,
he commands things not even dreamt up by the most evil of this world, even Virtus would
never go there as mad as he is” he wondered why he would go that far, the Doll Maker had an
army of fake people, threads of power connected each of them to one master that could be
commanded on a mere whim.
