Through the Eye of Eternity

The Encounter

The Encounter

Sep 25, 2023

The forest was alive with natural sounds; birds singing, insects buzzing, and leaves rustling in the breeze. The air was fresh and clean, comforting him as he walked through the trees.

However, as he went in deeper, the light began to fade and the shadows lengthened. His sense of ease gave way to alertness and unease. The forest felt more harsh, absent of any signs of towns or people.

He had been walking for hours without encountering any trace of human life. Could it be possible that no humans lived in this world?

This thought conflicted with the faint assurances given by the mysterious entities he'd encountered earlier.

He needed to find some form of civilization soon... the solitude was becoming overwhelming, and he couldn't shake the feeling that something might be watching him.

...
...
...
...

Suddenly, a quick, rustling noise broke the silence. He turned around, trying to look through the darkness.

He couldn't see anything, but he could hear heavy footsteps approaching rapidly, making the ground tremble slightly. Chills ran down his spine as the footsteps grew louder.

"I need to get out of here..." he said to himself, his voice edged with panic.

Pushing his tired and aching body, he began to run as fast as he could. Despite the pain, his desire to survive drove him forward.

The footsteps behind him continued, getting louder and closer. He was certain now that whatever was chasing him wasn't human.

The trees began to thin out, and faint lights appeared in the distance. With a new surge of hope, he ran towards the lights, thinking they might lead to a town.

The thought of reaching safety gave him the strength to ignore his exhaustion.

Just as he was getting close, a sudden force struck him on his left side, sending him flying into a tree. Pain shot through his body, and he fell to the ground, struggling to catch his breath.

He looked up, his eyes widened in shock.

A huge creature stood before him, unlike anything he had ever seen. Three horns and three eyes that glared menacingly at him.

Its large, muscular body was covered in grey skin, and its two arms ended in hands with seven sharp claws each. The creature, towering nearly four meters tall, seeped an air of menace as it loomed over him.

"What... What is that thing?" he whispered, his voice trembling with fear, the terror constricting his chest.

Paralyzed by the creature's powerful blow to his left side, he lay helplessly on the ground. As it raised its fists to strike, he closed his eyes, bracing for the worst, his mind racing with frantic thoughts of his unmet fate.

But instead of pain, a metallic clang rang out. He opened his eyes and saw a large, glowing sword floating in the air, blocking the creature's blow. The sword seemed to have its own force, pushing the creature back.

Then, the sword flew toward someone standing not far away. A figure dressed in silver caught the sword, their appearance shadowy in the dim light.

Before he could see more, his strength gave out, and he passed out from exhaustion.'

When he woke up again, he was in a completely different place. Laying in a bed in a room with white walls and a marble floor, flowers beside him on a table.

The gentle sound of birds came from outside. He was connected to various wires and tubes. Trying to sit up, he winced at the pain in the left side of his body, a reminder of his recent encounter.

"Oh, you're awake" a gentle voice said.

Turning his head, he saw a nurse with blonde hair and green eyes approaching. Her calm presence was oddly comforting yet seemed out of place in this strange world.

"You were attacked by a D'yari, a dangerous creature from another world, but you survived." she explained softly, her voice warm yet tinted with a professional detachment.

"A D'yari? I've never seen such a thing before..." he responded, his voice filled with confusion and a rising curiosity.

"They come from a world very different from ours." the nurse said, pausing as if choosing her words carefully. "We know little about them, just that they are hostile. It's lucky you're still alive."

He looked at her, filled with questions. "What about this thing?" he asked, nodding toward the device connected to him.

"It's monitoring your vitals. Heart rate, blood pressure, to ensure you're stable" she explained, her tone simpler, as she tapped on a tablet that displayed his medical data.

As she stepped out, he lay back, looking at the ceiling, his mind swirling with thoughts of home, mysterious eyes, and this dangerous new world. What was his purpose here? Was he just lost, or was there something he was meant to find or do?

One thing was certain amid all the uncertainty... he had survived, and that was the beginning of whatever came next.

(This story is and will not be perfect. I decided to write this story since it has been on my mind for years now. I've always been daydreaming about certain stories, characters and such for a long time, and now I finally decided to try writing for the first time. I wish I could've drawn this story, but I'm bad at drawing so that won't happen anytime soon.

I would also like to mention that English is not my first language so expect some errors here and there. HOWEVER I am trying my best to fix it [rewriting certain sections, grammar, typos and such].
I also appreciate criticism, tips and/or tricks on how I could improve this story/writing.

Also most parts in this story might seem confusing, but that is intentional. That's just how this story goes. Everything that might seem confusing now will get an explanation later on.
There might have some parts where I have a massive skill issue, but most are intentional. One last thing I would like to mention is that, I'm not 100% sure about the tags. I added what seemed to be reasonable, but that could also change in the future.)
